General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Free electronics drop-off
« on: October 08, 2014, 08:49:08 PM »
^^^ In Grand Rapids, MI / Kent County, the County operates a recycle facility that takes electronic waste. There is a door you park next to and unload into a room. The down side is I always find something of use someone before me dropped off.  :67:

OMG, that's a lot of lockers per site to auction off in 1/2 hour per site, including travel time between sites.
So how did it go anyone? were there a lot of locker withdrawals? Did the auctioneer smoke through them? Did the caravan run really late into the day, or next day, or reschedule?

Maybe it's some kind of tax imposed to online listings by the UK! As if the VAT isn't enough.

The entertainment industry is something else. Name any other sector where you can bad mouth and sue your employer, then get rehired.

The Lounge / Re: Alibaba IPO could be largest in U.S. History

I repair electronics. I found some repair components for 1/2 to 1/3 of what a US distributor would charge. I'm talking about things like a power output module that I can get PP for about $35 instead of $80+.
Since I occasionally buy through them, I get their e-mails hawking jewelry and fancy clothes which I have no interest in. You would think with the data of stuff I buy they could target their (or their resalers) merchandise to my interest.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: U-Haul Doesn't Auction Off Vehicles?
« on: December 24, 2013, 02:34:33 PM »
Spoke with a buddy of mine that handles U-Haul auctions and he told me that you'll never see a vehicle (that requires a title) at a U-Haul auction.
OK! So what do they do with abandoned vehicles?

Vehicles at Storage Auctions / Re: $650 27' Motor Home
« on: August 26, 2013, 11:25:20 PM »
I have a 1987 motorhome with about 20K miles. It had about 17K when I got it over 3 years ago. So not an unusual low mileage IMO. The gas mileage does suck on the thing, but it doesn't run all over the county. Most trips are with-in a 60 mile range.

eBay / Re: What's Your Worst eBay Horror Story ?
« on: May 28, 2013, 10:27:36 PM »

I have no idea why someone would have free shipping on a no reserve item that big and heavy!

............

What was his feedback number? It was probably a rookie mistake. I know I made a few of them when I started selling on eBay, and for that matter, still do. I learn from my mistakes and move on.

In North Fort Myers, Fl, there is a storage facility along Bus US41 that has a sale one a month. It looks to be selling abandoned lockers piece by piece instead of auction, as well as tenants wishing to sell from their lockers.

Stopped in a couple times while spending the winter there.

Craigslist / Re: Craigslist & Sales Taxes
« on: April 29, 2013, 10:18:16 PM »
As resalemom said, if you have a sales tax license, you can still collect what your ad states and pay the sales tax yourself.

Sell a $100 item in a state with 6% sales tax, collect $100 figuring you will then owe $6 to the state.
Or move to Delaware  ::)

USPS hides the hipping cost also.......

In eBay shipping and PayPal shipping, you have the option of the USPS label showing the cost or not.
