General Storage Auction Talk / Oh yea, good unit.
« on: February 03, 2013, 11:39:27 PM »
Went to an auction Saturday and they only had one unit and only 2 other people showed up.  When the owner of the storage facility cut the lock he  was not sure about selling the unit.  He looked thru the stuff and went thru the stuff and was not sure if he was going to sell it.  He went back to the office and when he came back he decided to sell it.  The wife started off with an opening bid of 100 bucks, no one else wanted to bid.  he told us he was not going to sell it for 100 dollars, so the wife said 200.  Well, then he said that he has 300 in back rent and wants to get that.  Well, I then offered 250.  Him and the wife settled for 275.  It took 2 truck loads and two 19 foot trailer loads to empty the unit. OMG, the guy worked for Snap-on tools and you might think I'm making this up there is boxes of tools in the unit. I feel bad about the guy loosing his stuff, but glad about getting it.  Best unit ever.

« on: January 28, 2013, 10:28:58 AM »
Went to two more auctions and bid on every unit but the price was to high for me.  The cheapest was one for 35 bucks and it had an old suitcase and a stool with wheels.  There was also a box of trash.  The highest went for 600.00 bucks and had alot of baby and kids cloths in it. We went as high as 500 but we didn't reallly see any big money in it.  It was a nice and clean unit.  In a few mor days there will be another.  :'(

General Storage Auction Talk / Another 60 dollar unit. oh yea
« on: January 21, 2013, 07:23:30 PM »
The wife and I was running  around and discovered that a storage facility was having an auction.  just so happens we were go that way anyhow.  The good thing was that we made another good contact...   They had 5 units and one didn't even sell, everything was clean but just to much junk stuff.  Well the unit we got went for 60 buck, and it had a bedroom suit that we need for an apartment we have.  We try to stay away from matresses but this one had a nice clean Queen size one.  More Tv's, Dvd's  and other normal junk,  but when we were going thru the last bag.  A nice and clean, white and blue "Los Angles lakers" jersey.  They only had the white one's in the 60's and this is not a repro...  It's Ebay bound.  The funny thing of it is that we at lease had 60 dollars worth of cleaning supplies in this unit. :-\

General Storage Auction Talk / The stoned Pig
« on: January 09, 2013, 06:33:11 PM »
Went to a few auctions today, and did buy one for 50 bucks.  There was a pickup truck full of junk and we were happy.  Well when we got it home the wife pulled out some small stuffed toys for her Yorkies to play with, which saves me money.  That is good.  There was a pig that took 2 c cell batteries which would do flips and she figured the dogs would have fun with it.  I went to go put that batteries in and discovered a p*t pipe hidden in it.  She was suprised when I showed her my big or small find for the day.   The pig still didn't work. 8) 8

General Storage Auction Talk / Wife is hooked
« on: December 21, 2012, 08:28:32 AM »
We have been to a few storage auctions in the past and made out good on the deals.  A few weeks ago we went to Norfolk Va. and discovered that at that storage facility it was mostly trash.  So bad units did not sell.  We did pick one up that had a living room corner sectional in it and a couple of elephant glass tables in it.  The tables turned out to be Designed by Toscano tables which were his classic designed ones and are really cool looking.  But most of all we made contact with the  auctioneer who provided us with a two month list of all the auctions in the area.  Now the wife wants to go to more.
