Nope I'm still grinding out 40 a week, not complaining pay is good, good working conditions and great benefits. Been doing storage and other type auctions for a couple of years. A little play money, some quality time with mama and maybe a early retirement business. Life is good.

$1,610.00 so far with 19 hours left. Something smells fishy here.

I've been out of touch for a couple of days. Wow does anyone know the final price.

I've seen lockers go up over $500 in the last ten minutes of an auction

The "Other" Job / Tool Maker
« on: June 17, 2014, 05:34:18 PM »
What is a tool maker you might ask? An over paid machinist :67:. I have been doing machine shop work since 1980. To do something for that long you have to love what you do and I do. For the last 12 years I have been working in Research and Development. Pretty cool stuff. I program, setup and run CNC equipment and all the manual machines also. Its cool taking a chunk of metal and turning it into something that goes on a million dollar machine. My hours are 6am to 2:30 which leaves some time in the afternoon for my growing passion of BUYING AND SELLING BABY. Have I mentioned that I need to work on the selling part? :73: Well that's my other job.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Where do you park?

I've haven't had too many problems at storage auctions its the estate auctions where I run into the most trouble. Sometimes the cars are lined up and down the street. I drop mama at the door to register us, go park and hike back.....usually carrying 2 fold up chairs :13:.

I agree, someone did store there stuff neatly and the unit is clean. $650- $700 max. It will probably go for $1200 by the time it is over.

eBay / Re: Higher Priced Items Still Selling

Nice insight Fred. Could you or anyone talk some about when you first started off on EBay. I have an account and have listed a couple of things but hadn't really gotten serious about selling there. I guess I'm looking for something to kick start me.

Reality Shows about Storage Auctions / Re: What happened?

I still watch them, I love that theme song "Money Owns this Town" although they did cut it short this year. Yea Renee is a jerk but his wife is a looker  :13:. Speaking of yuck, what do y'all think about them showing Dan in his thong.... bikini underwear or whatever... now that was rough.

Also there are no guest buyers this year. I know the Mark fellow died but where is Nabila and seems light there was another one also.

Maybe you could be a guest buyer Travis . Be a long haul back to Texas.

How about x-ray glasses? Sure would be nice to see inside those cardboard boxes every now and then.

How about some reselling motivation books. I need the one titled " Stop Using The Day Job As An Excuse". The jest of it would be get off your lazy A** and sell, sell, sell.

What's it Worth?? / Re: Stamps in a 3" thick book
« on: June 08, 2014, 09:05:46 AM »
Stop It Movieman  :96: I almost came out of my seat when I saw (The most interesting is of a bi-plane flying upside down).
I don't know much about stamps either but I do know that is a retirement Stamp. I have a book like yours and a cigar box full old stamps that need investigating, so if you find a convent way let us know.

Isn't funny how you hear of people finding Treasures worth Thousands of dollars....Stamps, Pictures etc. but when you get your maybe's checked out it is always worth 10 to 15 bucks.
