General Storage Auction Talk / Re: What do U-Haul with ?
« on: June 08, 2014, 08:38:25 AM »
I finally got my lights hooked up  :41:. First order of business is to make a run to the scrap yard and then I thinking of filling it up and Auctioning off the contents on OnlineStorageAuctions.com. Then back to the sales. Life is good.

eBay / Re: How to efficiently sell products under $10

You could try to double or triple your money by selling it in bulk. Let someone else piece them out.

The Lounge / The FairTax
« on: May 31, 2014, 12:07:53 PM »
Has anyone heard of the FairTax. Its a bill in congress that would get rid of the income tax (and the IRS) and replace it with a 23% sales tax. I went to their website fairtax.org and looked it over, seems reasonable.

Have you heard of it, what do you think?

I just bought an enclosed trailer, I have been borrowing a friends utility trailer and using the back of my SUV so I finally bit the bullet got me a nice one. I found it on Craiglist, its a 6 X 12 Haulmark with double rear doors and a side door. Pulls great.

I imagine with this group there are some pretty nice rigs out there. Lets hear about them.

What's it Worth?? / Re: Sports Cards
« on: May 29, 2014, 04:47:26 PM »
I was at a Estate auction a few weeks back that had a 2' x 3' tube of cards, I picked through a few and the last year on all of them was in the 70"s. I started the biding at $15 and thought I had them at $40, then auctioneer said oh yea there is a lock box in the bottom. He pulls it out and shakes it around "there could be money, gold, treasures in here", well two fellows who weren't even bidding jumped in and the lot went for $145. Talked to the winner later and he said the was a couple of unsigned baseballs and more cards in the box.....Sucker.

I heard when you get back in the 70"s and before there value go up, but it still has to be the right cards.

I group my up by teams, people will by a stack of their favorite team vs. a batch of mixed cards.

Private Sellers / Re: No activity in my zip code
« on: May 26, 2014, 07:10:41 PM »
Oh wow that opens up a lot of opportunities.....the gears are churning. I will defiantly give this some serious thought. I sell regularly on Craigslist  from my home and am a strong 2nd amendment supporter so that shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks

BTW love the spell check

Nice, I see this as a great way to get rid of some of my clutter. Good merchandise for someone but my clutter.

Private Sellers / No activity in my zip code
« on: May 26, 2014, 06:18:38 PM »
I live in South Carolina and check my zip code regularly. I haven't seen any auctions. I would like to sell a personal unit to thin out my merchandise. Right now my merchandise is in my basement (boy is it ever) :93:.

With that said would this be the action plan?
Rent and fill a unit
Post the auction
If it sells great
If it don't sell, empty the unit?

Any help or advice will greatly appreciated.

My zip is 29611

What's it Worth?? / Re: Silver plated.....
« on: May 26, 2014, 05:39:22 PM »
My mother sold a real nice set for $40 a few weeks back, but if it has any blemishes it goes in the general scrap metal pile. I hate to do it but like you said you cant give it away and recycling is too time consuming.

Guilty.

Hello everyone, I am one of those you were speaking of Travis, I pop on the forum check out the nuggets I am interested in from resent posts and move along. I guess sometime I think my input has no value, but as I am writing this I realize not participating by commenting and asking questions I'm missing out on all the value this forum gives.

I don't do a lot of Storage Auctions because of my day job, most of them around here are during the week. Estate auctions and regular auction houses is where I get most of my merchandise so maybe that could be new topic to add.

Love the Forum and committed to be more active.

Darrell

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Auction Scene #3....March, 2014

It's hard for me to hit many auctions during the week with my day job, but there is a caravan Wednesday with the last facility starting at 2:00. Its only a few minutes away from work so I'm going to leave a few minutes early and check it out. Still looking for my 1st unit of the year.

Picker's Paradise / Re: Latest "piece-by-piece" Auction
« on: March 09, 2014, 11:02:57 AM »
Piece by piece auctions are still popular here, one of my best finds was a 48 star cotton flag for $3. I also do good on clothes, DVD's, CD's and video games. Big profit on small dollar items but its still profit right?

Flea Markets / Re: Flea Market Auction ?
« on: March 09, 2014, 10:31:21 AM »
I was thinking of Auctioning my remaining goods right there at my tables. Put up a sign saying (remaining merchandise  will be auctioned at 1:30) The flea market we sell at (The Jockey Lot) will announce over the P.A. that so and so seller is selling their remaining merchandise but I hadn't had any luck with that and thought an auction might get some attention. Does anyone know the laws for a individual having a small auction?
