I was just curious if anyone pays any attention to these storage shows any more? The first year of storage wars I watched, quickly lost interest. As with many new fads or popular jobs or reality shows they got like a 1 year shelf life if that. Deadliest catch and a few others have stuck around but its because you can't fake that and its actually interesting. Storage wars always seemed to be more about the plot than the actual business and it was so staged and edited i think people lost intersted quickly. Just curious if anyone watches these anymore?

eBay / Do You Charge A Re-Stocking Fee On Returns?
« on: February 24, 2014, 09:04:03 AM »
Just curious if you guys charge a re-stocking fee on your returns. On one of my accounts they allow me to do this on the other they don't, I'm not sure if you have to be top rated or power seller or have a certain level category of store but I really like this feature.

It allows me to accept returns while still getting paid for my time and expenses on selling an item. I still don't like returns but heck if someone returns something I make a nice 20% margin and then resell the item again to someone else so not the end of the world. I have chosen to offer a 14 day return policy with a 20% restocking fee so I do offer returns and am rewarded in best match search for doing so however it also prevents buyers from playing games buying something on the offchance they may want it and sending it back or buying something just to try it out.

I some of you out there have your own blogs or are affiliate marketers. I was curious if any of you currently are or have been a member of the EPN or ebay partner network? I used to hear about how great it was and also how hard it was to get in. I recently got apprved after being denied a number of times however apparently they have really stripped down the program. The payout schedule and amounts are anything but transparent and apparently they have moved to a 1 day cookie so unless someoen buys instantly you don't get paid. Most affiliate programs have either a 15 or 20 day cookie just to illustrate how bad this is.

I was super excited about getting admitted but in less than a week have given up and stripped ebay off all my blogs and sites.

Just curious if anyone was a member before they changed terms as well as recently and what your thoughts are?

I was under the impression Paypal should be sending out automated emails upon us as sellers processing labels it used to automatically generate an email to the customer saying your item shipped here is your tracking. I'm always bombarded with requests for did my package ship or tracking. It's hard to tell whether people don't get these, whether they go in spam, or whetehr people just don't check the email associated with their paypal account. Not sure if Paypal isn't sending these or my custoemrs just dont check. Was curious if all your customers get these automated emails with tracking info.

eBay / Slow Holiday Mail & Annoying Customers? Anyone else?
« on: January 02, 2014, 09:47:19 AM »
Obviously mail is slower during the Holidays. I'm seeing some first class packages taking like 10 days, even priority which was guranteed in 1,2 or 3 days is now 4 days. I have so many buyers wanting refunds. One guy I actually gave a refund to and package showed up very next day so I'm out payment and product. Now I'm telling people I gurantee I will refund or reship but will wait appropraite time to make sure package truly is lost and not just slow. what a headache. i love how people wanna do my free shipping option and then wanna cry they didnt get item next day when if they wanted to they could upgrade for an additional fee. im also annoyed usps is now calling delivery confirmation tracking, its misleading. i get at least 3 messages a day saying hey my package is still sitting at such and such or my package is still in this state. i have to give them the whoel spiel about ussp is delivery confirmation not tracking.

The Lounge / $5 In Free Bitcoins Or 0.007 Bitcoins Free EASY
« on: December 24, 2013, 03:14:59 PM »
Hey, coinbase has a promo going on right now, $5 free bitcoins. Obviously prices change dramatically but acurrent rate thats going to be right around 0.007 bitcoins. coinbase(dot)com/?utm_campaign=user-referral is where you can get the bonus.

If you want a paper wallet on your computer to keep your coins go to bitcoin.org and you can download the program. this way you can practice sending money from coinbase to your paperwallet for storage and back to coinbase if you ever want to cash out. kinda cool just an opportunity to try out and get familiar with bitcoins without having to spend any real money

eBay / More Blown Away By Terapeak Everytime I Use It
« on: December 16, 2013, 02:04:14 PM »
Not only can you do research on your own category and competitors but say your just randomly thinking I wish I knew hwat some hot selling categories were and products were. I attached one screenshot with a color codes guide such as what are hot selling categories. I saw guitars was one so dug deeper into subcategories and looks like effects pedals are hot as well. You can then dig futher into effects pedals and see what models.

You can also do "hot" research and see what the most common searched terms and items on ebay would be. I attached some screenshots showing you guys this stuff. Probably not worth it for the casual ebay seller but if you sell alot of your storage goods on ebay or even if your looking to supplement your storage auction stuff and try to buy stuff wholesale and resell to supplement your ebay store or ebay biz you can figure out what those products are as well.

There's lots of "junk" we find in storage auctions that may be hard to sell as it is but could maybe repurposed into either a piece or recycled art or something. Or maybe you found a piece of electronics that was broken but were able to fix it and resell it. I guess my main point is do you guys turn any of your finds into projects. Could even be something as simple as sanding and revarnishing a nice piece of furniture.

Reason I ask is something poppeed into myhead. I was browsing the forum and saw someone in the wanted to buy section looking for CB radios. I've found a number of CB radios in units and there not worth that much and kinda hard to sell the cheaper ones. Most people into this as a hobby have something specific on their mind. Anyhow, there's an easy tweak to these Cb radios. You can steal a crystal out of a toaster or really anything that has a heating element like a blow dryer. Anyhow, if you swap the crystals you can interfere with and talk over fast food drive thru speakers. Not sure the legality of this but if its legal all the sudden you turned a $15 or $20 item thats hard to sell into something you can easily flip on ebay by advertising it as such. There's tons of stoned 18 or 20 year old kids who would easily drop $50 or $100 on something like that.

The Lounge / Domain For Sale www.FreeStorageAuctionLists.Com
« on: December 13, 2013, 07:32:06 PM »
Hey guys, not sure if I'll have any luck here but was going to try to sell my domain freestorageauctionlists.com. I used to put a fair amount of time into it but to be honest for the past 6 months or so I just havn't had the time. I have another online ecommerce business and a few other blogs which I'm a bit more interested in at the current time. Storage auction for me are more a hobby these days moreso than a business. I thought someone else with more time might be able to do more with it than myself.

Early on I did a lot of linkbuilding and buidling backlinks. It used to have a very strong following, following has dropped off a bit since I havn't been posting as much. I post storage auctions as well as have a blog section with some tips and just commenting on the industry.

It's worth about $1200 to me in completely passive income just off adsense and probably a bit more if I take ebook sales into consideration as well. I know storage auctions aren't as hot as they used to be and are on a bit of a downturn. To someone who already has storage auction listing sites this could be of some value to you.

I'd like to get $1200 or basically a year of ad revenue from it but open to offers. I've never sold or transferred a domain before so may need some assistance transferring it over to you after the sale but I've done it before so just need a helping hand and shoudln't be a problem.

I'd be more than happy to give you all the content on the site as well as the blogspot page that it's currently forwarded to as well.

Thanks

Okay, so came up with a money making idea that you can do in addition to buying units. We all know sometimes you buy a bad locker and wind up not only losing money but wasting time and energy cleaning out units full of crap. Maybe you had a bad day at the auctions and didn't buy anything. Why not offer a service to cleanout and dispose of units for other buyers.

This way buyers can buy a unit, cherry pcik the good stuff and pay someoen to clean and dump it for them instead of doing it themselves. If you already have a truck, gloves, etc youalready got the supplies you need to start this business. A n added benefit is there's a lot of buyers who only cherry pick the obious money makers so lots of people would probably leave scrap metal or things of value they don't know how to sell. This way not only do you get paid for cleaning and dumping for peopple but maybe they leave some goodies in the unit you can sell and make money off of.

I know some of us have been fulltime auction buyers, some part time. I know years ago alot of us were thinking about quitting our day gigs and giving this a go fulltime or opening stores. I was just curious how many of you guys have gone from part time buyers to fulltime buyers and have since gone back to working for an employer or gone back to your old careers. It just seems to hard to make money these days even with crowds down.
