Well, I discourage people from trying to research individuals.... I can understand researching companies. Without a social security number, address, etc., you aren't going to be able to locate these people. Hell, the storage facilities themselves have a hard enough time locating these tenants and they have their phone numbers and email address. Another thing to keep in mind is that half of the units advertised in the legal notices will never make it to auction so a lot of the research you do is in vain. Even if you can figure out what type of business the tenant was in, there is no guarantee that the contents are going to be related. A good example is a notice I read a few a weeks ago where the tenant was listed as a pizza company and the contents were listed as miscellaneous furniture, totes and clothing. Save yourself some time and sanity and make your buying decisions based on what you can see from the door.
