Title: Jarrod & Brandy's "Married to the Job"
Post by: Travis on July 17, 2014, 12:36:43 AM
So, Jarrod & Brandy's "Married to the Job" is the latest Storage Wars spin-off. A show about a couple who bicker and deal with kids that don't listen. Why not just replace America's TVs with mirrors?

Why not just replace America's TVs with mirrors?

Because it's not like that in every American household.

It was one episode, it's not a series.

Here's a recap: Their kids need a desk to do homework on so, to spite Brandy, Jarrod puts a large wet bar in their living room. Jarrod celebrates what he calls "Birthday Month," and I think that is self explanatory. Brandy tells Jarrod he's acting like a child. Jarrod and friends set up an above ground pool in his front yard and say  :06:. Brandy does a keg stand and starts dancing provocatively.  :singing: Neighborhood security shuts the party down. Next morning, Grandma drops the kids off. Jarrod answers the door hungover only realizing that he can't let the kids see the house trashed. Has the kids close their eyes and go straight to their room.

Good wholesome family entertainment.

I just saw a commercial where it does look like this is going to become a series starting in August.

This has big flop written all over it. How much of their bickering and partying can we watch ?

I agree. I don't think we'll see season 2.

Don't underestimate this country's voyeuristic tendencies.

So now that Married to the Job has aired a few episodes, what do you think? Getting better or worse?

It has a certain appeal.  I must say also, I would've really kicked someone's ass if they ever sold my truck without my say so.

But she only did it to pay for her wedding dress   :smiley_confused1:  ...certainly you can sympathize.

Can anyone else picture the season finale? You know it's going to be Brandy & Jarrod's wedding. Beer, a swimming pool & pistachio tuxedos!

Maybe they'll get married in Dave Hester's old auction house building.

They make a combined total of $40k per episode not including haul fees, room costs, bonuses ..etc. in other words at least $520k a season

If they were so hard up I'm sure they could have found a dress at macys for $800 like my sister just did (who makes 1200/month) rather than sell a truck.

I watched the first pilot and bailed.   :34:

I hate to say it, but Married to the Job is staged more than the lockers on Storage Wars!

Perhaps, but for anyone that is married, there are a lot of things one can relate to in the show.

I expect a certain amount to be staged/scripted, especially if they are the only two carrying the show but when the staging involves faking that they are poor its a little much.

They live in a gated community, make the $500k+ a season on sw and now get probably 20k total an episode for this train wreck.  There is no way they are pulling in less than a million a year at this point.  Also whenever they are eating subway in the car throw on another $50k.

My house is filled with storage "treasures", antiques, artwork ..etc. and my wife hates it, my warehouse is filled to the brim but I still buy units .. she yells at me all the time about it...  all relatable.

They don't have to try so hard.
