Storage Wars....Season "X"
« on: June 18, 2013, 09:15:50 PM »
For the first couple of years of SW I used to regularly review (and skewer) each show, but when they started having mid-season new starts and Dave blew it all apart and you never knew when it was going to be on, I quit doing that.

Not a blow by blow tonight, but a couple of thoughts.

In the first NEW episode tonight there were two couples, two sets of clowns (Barry and the brothers) but in the 2nd NEW episode tonight it was back to Barry, Darryl, J&B and Ivy.  One thing you can count on now...you can't count on seeing one group or another. They have mixed up the episodes they taped during the fallout with ones after the fallout and it's anyone's guess who you will see.

On the other hand, this picture of an item that J&B landed might just about say it all.

In the second NEW episode on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, Barry got a set of healing bowls.

The "reverend" said new they would be $2,000, used she thought he could get $1,500.

Here's a set on eBay (new or used I didn't look) but they are offered at $950 or best offer.

.

When looking at completed listings singles (not a set of 7) were sold for $10 to $20.   Oh well.

AND..... when they do the tallying at the end of the show they throw that escalated WORTH figure in as how the buyers actually came through, so Barry was quoted as having MADE $2,000 or so.

Nothing's changed....it may have gotten worse.

Well, at least the Bubble car towing a tear drop camper was cool.

It's common practice to see cast members inflate the price of how much they can resell an item, usually not the appraiser. Oh well, still was a fun episode.

I just assume they're talking in "Crazy California People Dollars" which have an exchange rate of something like 4:1 to regular dollars.

Barry is the exception...he usually undervalues his merchandise.
