Title: Storage Wars Season 3.....Here we go again !
Post by: MovieMan on May 01, 2012, 09:15:05 PM
Tueday, May 1, 2012

A&E is annoucing on the SW reruns tonight that SW 3 starts June, 2012.

Get ready for another onslaught of newbies once the new shows start popping up.

I do like a few of the characters on this show so I'll probably continue reviewing them without giving
too many revealing details for those of you who want to be "surprised" by all the goodies they find.

Shows you how much attention I have been paying to the show.  I thought the new season was already out.  Think that is SW: Texas (season 2) and SW is on 3 come June.  I only watch it anymore when kids want to watch.  I do like Berry's antics and Jarod/Brandy bickering.  We have our own Jarod/Brandy combo in my area.

I still prefer to watch Shipping Wars.  It was a ton of laughs and entertaining to me.  Guess that is why it got canceled.  Most shows I like get the axe.  Exception has been the Big Bang Theory...then again I didn't start watching it till Season 1 was 1/2 over.

It's baaaack !

Tuesday, June 5, 2012 is here and so is the rat pack of bidders from southern California.

I missed the first 10 minutes but can't have been too much. Commerical on at the moment and going
back to see what Jarrod found in a $400 locker. Brandi, b****ing the whole while he's moving stuff out.

Dave didn't buy...says he stuck it to Darrell at $1750...gotta be gold bars of some kind in there.

****

New show #2 following this first episode and a new series starting next week...Bartering is the subject, but we're not talking "my old guitar" for your "old computer"....nope it's high ticket items.

****

Jarrod  finds a box of rocks....I can relate to that. Basically some crystals and pyrite.....from the two I saw, I sell those at $2 to $15 depending on rock and size.

*****
Darrel finds a metal detector...didn't see the name brand but it wasn't a White's or Garrett.

A treasure hunter on the beach tells him he might get $800 for it.

*****

Barry gets a martini set. Worth?   Dealer tells him its "unique" .... sterling.... worth?...dealer says....$1,000....un-freakin' believable.

****

Rocks are for shakra (sp?) healing....value....$50.  Quartz value.....$80.   Oralite Amethyst ? Never heard of the first word..dealer says $250....the box...worth $350....total of $850.  I would have thought maybe $100 or so.

On to episode 2.

This show is now total "cornball."  What's the deal with Barry sucking down raw eggs.... ??? ???  And Darryl saying he was ditching his son......over and over and over again...... ::)  They seem to be starting to focus on the personal drama just as much as the actual auctions.

Also, was it just me, or is Dave Hester using a different intonation of "YUUUUP."  He said it about three or four different ways - but not the same way as season one or two.  Wonder if the lawsuit has anything to do with that.

Also see that Jarrod and Brandi's guy Mark is gone - the new helpers are some older guy with a ponytail and a young dude.

2nd half hour....

Went outside and this time missed the 1st 15 minutes !

Watching Barry now look through totes...nothing so far !

He likes to let a wall of boxes fall down and crash.  Seems he paid $1900 for maybe an 8 x 10.

****

Brandi and J.   .....  Paid $1400 ....  At least his estimates of the hand tools were accurate.....$25 each.
Whoa...what's that....old 40's radio...I just got one myself and mine works !  Maybe worth $100 or so. The expert says...1941 Philco...as is....$250 ...restored would be....$1,500 but they would have to pay $650 to restore it.

*****

Darrel got one for $650. Put his son to work sorting in the back end of store....lots of room in the work area.
Dad looks through the "junk" pile and finds "$1,000" worth of stuff. The "whoa" factor comes up after the commercial.
"You wouln't believe me if I told you." Darrel says...he thinks its a Tolusee Latrec (sp?).  What are the chances of that happening.....next to none. Maybe it's a reproduction.  Nope, not a repro, not a print...expert says it sold for $75,000 some years ago...BUT it's a FORGERY...May sell for $3500.

****

Barry got a Star Wars jacket "Revenge of the Jedi"....worth some bucks...experts say $3,000.

New episodes air Tuesday night - and since Darryl and Brandon are "kapoop" - looks like there will be an opening on Team Sheets.   Wonder who will apply for that gig!!??  8) 8)

Darryl and Brandon are "kapoop"

Darryl needs to pull his head out of his ass. All that crying last episode over how Brandon was going to throw out stuff that was soooooooo valuable. As I recall some time back in an episode when they went to Darryl's house, he told the story of one of his first auction wins. It was for a ton of sports memorabilia. In his haste to make a quick buck he sold it off in a lot to someone for like $10K or so. In hindsight he tells us that if he took his time and sold it properly, he would've cleared over $100K on everything. So in my book that makes Darryl a screw-up to the tune of over 100 times that of Brandon.

Yep, he claimed to have one of the largest comic book collections in the world....and sold it for pennies on the dollar......that's a lot of lost "poop"!!   :P :P

First half hour on 6/12/2012…

A room with a view….you can see through a window to the outside..Barry gets it.

Second lkr..antique items. Jarred…sick as a dog…jumps in against Darrel at $3K.
Dave gets it at $4.1K.

Third lkr…Jacuzzi showing. Tools…let the battle begin.

Darrel is an idiot…after all these years he doesn’t realize that none of us can control what kind of lockers come up?  And he didn’t seem to bid on anything for any length of time.

If you recorded this with a Tivo or other device, catch Brandi revealing her TRAMP STAMP at 16” into the show (right after the boat compass shows). They end up getting a lot of old navigational equipment (reproductions but worth something).

Barry finds…..the view is nice. Gets into tubs. Oh yeah…tools for ice sculpting by chefs!
Got one of those just last week ! Expert says….$1500.

Dave looks over a good looking bronze statue. Overvalues everything he touches. He paid $4100 and estimates it at $7.5K (maybe ?) Bronze statue..expert says…$3500.

Going to Tivo the 2nd half hour and review it later.

2nd half hour...

Only highlights:

Darrel bids against his son...and takes the lkr. Gets a scuba device that pulls you through the water.

Dave bids everyone up and goes home empty  handed.

Barry bids high against Dave...gets glass eyes...for dolls ? Value from expert: $0.00.

Jarrod and Brandi...paid $1350...they get....bedroom set, dining table, couch, dishes, not looking good for the doofus, but WAIT....nope, no biggies !

So, the wars continue with us or without us !

Tuesday, 6/19/2012....

Two new episodes tonight...the usual bidding up by Dave. The couple get a big bar and something special after the commercial.

Barry gets one of those black kitchen wall clocks (a cat with moving eyes and a waving tail). They still make them, so not like it was a relic from the 1950s.

****

Recording this on TIVO and will come back and make notes on 2nd half hour later.   Going to my storage lkr to sell the wood lathe I got May 9th in a big locker...first of big tools to sell.

****

Barry gets a tip there might be Harley in a lkr paid for since 1997 !  He gets the lkr for $1200 or so...does he get the Harley?

Mark (from prior shows) shows up and ....... nothing for him.

Dave didn't go to the auction for this show...spending time reorganizing his 2,000 sq ft warehouse. Got rid of his store last year he says. Now he's up to something else...little undisclosed unless I missed it.

Darrel gets one.....nothing special...paid $700...worth less than half that.

Barry ready to get past the old couches to the possible Harley......he rips the locker apart as he usually does..no Harley.

Episode #1 tonight....
Now the values are on par with Auction Hunters.

New buyer (taking Dave's place ?)....Jeff.....doesn't impress.

Episode #2 tonight.....

Jeff...wants a level playing field.....wise up chump...it's every man for himself and the auctioneer plays favorites !

We have several auctioneers who "didn't see" that last bid that buyer "B" placed, so buyer "A" gets the lkr.

Jeff ?  :P (rasberries !)

Barry: flies to Vegas to check out his car parts...price will be so inflated he won't lose money this time..or will he?

Next new episodes, July 10, 2012.

Since Jeff appears in the preview for the July 10 show....he might be the new Dave Hester!! ??? ???

Guess they need a "bad guy" - but HOLY CRAP - enough with all the corny, hokey sayings and comments!!

BTW...I sold THREE of those tables for FIVE GRAND EACH just this week....so his price estimates are SPOT ON!!   :P :P :P

Dave, from what I've read signed on for season 3 ... this guy is going to be another mark or nabila ... saying that I would take double episodes of Mark the Murse than another second watching Jeff.  We get it, you're an umpire and you love cliches .... bottom line this guy is awful.

In regards to the antique unit I'm fairly certain that Barry made his living in his younger days being an Antique picker ... in conjunction with many other things ... so am I supposed to believe that Barry stopped bidding and this guy doubled his money?

Barry bids on anything remotely resembling an antique and passed on a double school desk from 100+ years ago.  I'm not even an antique guy and I knew what it was (grandfather was school teacher in rural VA and had one ... wish I had it now!)

But if I knew he certainly did and would never have let this guy win it.  Ugh I really hate Jeff!

i  liked barrys locker ,  i dont think i would have spent that kind of money for it but i liked it, the gas pedal and blower set up are over priced but still would have made money on the blower alone assuming it was complete  ($3200 new)http://www.mooneyesusa.com/shop/product.php?products_id=2155

Don't care for Jeff myself and apparently some others don't either. See link below which is an article published on the internet.  I am also posting it in the "In the News" threads here on the forum.

Tuesday, 7/17/2012....

Two new episodes tonight:

In #1, Jarrod starts off by straddling two parking places....that's a pet peeve of mine...is your vehicle so
precious you have to do that...park across the stree where there are 200 empty spaces at the Target or K-Mart.
I sometimes do that...I don't mind the walk.

back later with some highlights.

They’ve added blue banner Tweet comments at the bottom of the screen…please, don’t need that. Is desperation setting in?

Jarrod gets one for about $2300. Barry gets one for $1. Highlight of Barry’s buy is him throwing stuff over his shoulder left and right, but I’m sure there’s something valuable in there.

So far I’ve enjoyed the Shingles Virus commercial more than anything else.

Small crowd today….would have been a good auction to go up against the crew !

Dave Hester went to a different city…got one for $1100…Didn’t show him saying “yuup”.

Jarrod and B look at their $2300 lkr.  Find $15 in change. Another $300 or so in a cheap black document box.

200 blankets…sell or donate..decide to donate.

Darrel checks out $155 lkr.  Surf board with imitation shark bit taken out of side. The usual surprise comes up after the commercial.

Storage Wars Texas comes back August 15, 2012 !  Two new cuties to spark some interest in the male audience..that other bimbo is GONE !

Finishing up the first half hour:

Darrel finds a skateboard. Value…$500. Brandon gets to order from the “big boy menu” today.

Barry takes a wooden Hispanic mask to an “expert”…value….$250 because it’s 60 to 80 years old.

Dave takes beaded purses to “expert” (who probably provided them in the first place)…value…$2100 or so total…give me a break (again!).

Tuesday, 7/17/2012....

Two new episodes tonight:

2nd half hour…The Ship hit the sand.

Dave hasn’t been around for weeks, but he’s “baaaack” ! Oh no !

Unit #1….   Dave get’s it.

Unit #2….   Jarrod gets it. Dave calls it a pile of junk after bidding only $1600 on it.

Unit #3….   Brandon bids $275…gets it.

Dave’s lkr…over values them right off the bat.  Neon letters, spell…what?

Jarrod’s lkr…car parts…Mercedes !   Goggles with blue lenses. Brass blowtorch.

Brandon’s lkr…dad give the kid a hard time as usual.  Gets some “bad***” item coming back after the commercial…
Dave checks out his lettering….any of us just would have figured out what it spelled and figured it out ourselves. Letters are a “major” fad. I suggest they check definition of “fad”. Dealer teases him by saying $3K…then lowers it to $250.

Darrel gets African drum….any guesses on what it’s “worth” ?

Episode 1....

Barry has a scheme to help him get a lkr and....IT WORKS !

The couple....oh well. Can't win them all...even when you win one.

Yuuuuup!  ..... gets one and it's pretty good for an Egyptian king.

Darrell and son....Dad has a new business "adventure" in mind...watch this episode and you'll see what a doofus he is.
Title: Re: Storage Wars Season 3.....Here we go again !

Episode 2....

Dave and Darrell's son exchange words proving yet again how stupid it is to say "f*** you !"

Dave and Barry make a $5K bet on the age of a "Victorian" sofa.  I got one of those one time with bright
red (Brothel red) upholstery. I knew it was a reproduction and I didn't say one way or the other in the eBay ad. I think I got $1200 for it.

Who won the bet? Watch the rerun to find out.

'Shows you how much attention I have been paying to the show.  I thought the new season was already out' ;D!

Same here-I think I am always hearing- 'the new season of storage wars is premiering on....' You know, that can end up being a recurring nightmare -just like those nightmares of falling and falling and not hitting bottom, or the clown dreams?
THE NEW SEASON OF STORAGE WARS IS PREMIERING ......LAST NITE!!!! YUPP!! YEP!! and different vintage cars keep pulling up with Barry driving and in the passenger side-His Midget, the blonde body builder, the transvastite, the fortune teller, etc Just one car after another pulling up and everyone of them is BARRY AT THE WHEEL WITH ONE OF HIS SIDEKICKS!

Dave, dressed like an Ice cream man. all in white with 'Yup' all over his uniform. Lil Mini Daves as sidekicks who do the 'YUP dance.

Brandi/Jarod=everytime they 'argue about a bid=the auction freezes and that game 'ROCK'EM SOCK'EM ROBOTS rink drops in and they become one of those robot boxers. Whoever gets their 'BLOCK KNOCKED OFF' loses and gets their mouth and arms sewed up.. WHILE THE AUCTION RESUMES

Daryll -now, I do not like Daryll. I know this is scripted, but he is an ignorant jerk who can not come across as intellgent EVEN WHEN SW GIVES HIM INFO! So, whenever he goes into one of his BS sessions-WHICH IS ALL THE TIME-or his is belittling his son-WHEN EVER HIS SON(FORGOT HIS NAME_) He would turn into one of the adults in the Charlie Brown Cartoons. 'meh meh mheh. (what ever that sound is) No top shot, only the waist down. His son would be the same 2 demension type cartoon but he would speak and make sense.

Yes, a nightmake, Barry with endless cars, while dave dances, J/B boxing and not hearing Daryll (well not a nightmare for that)

Hear hear on that! I say we keep posts of the show to once a month or none. Someone should put a poll up to see if any of the member here care of what happeing on the show  or if we should even  talk about the show here. The fourm should be tricks of the trade or wht we find not about a fake scripted show that is way off track from what it once was.

But seriously it seems that this forum is just fueled by that  stupid  Storage wars show! What makes the show so appealing? Is it because they find something that is planted that brings back memories or it relates to doing what you do? The show is stupid and fake. I'm just as guilty as the next person posting about the show. This forum has much more to offer than posting about a  sell out boring gimmick show that has lost its appeal.I personally would like post about strategy, tricks, awesome finds, how a person over paid and what you would do next time that you should of done the time before.

Episode #1:

Barry's big find is for the birds.

Yuuup!  Scores some electronics. (value in Dave's world... $16K).

The couple takes stuff back to the store and find....GOOD  jewelry.  Gotta be a plant....nope, counterfeit ! And some hamburger icons:

The "expert" said the one pictured might be worth a couple of hundred. Selling on eBay for $19.95...go figure !

Darrel and son....drive away empty.

Episode #2

Barry arrives in a new (small) ride.

Brandy rolls eyes as Jarrod goes for broke, but Barry gets it at $2300…$1700 too much in my book. (end tally said he lost $1400)

Evaluations are off the wall tonight…two samplers worth $1K…come on Darrel. (he got the lkr for $220).

Barry’s lkr is a big loser by around $2K or so. Good thing the producers paid him $10K to buy it. He did get an antique horse racing gizmo…expert says….$600.

Darrel looks at his sampler unit…value…$(they never said....guess it was less than he thought).   Map of Transylvania…value $1K .

Yuup….lkr I would have paid $250 for…He claims around $3K plus in value.

I supposed if you had a small shop in an upscale part of town and you catered to wealthy customers you could charge a couple of hundred dollars for an item tha sells for $19.95 on Ebay. I walked into one of those types of "know the right people/sell to the wealthy in town" shops and they were selling $2 picture frames for $28. Convincing the right people to pay what you want them to pay is just part of the game.

Episode #1, Tuesday, August 14, 2012

Storyline tonight….Barry professes he is a SLA (storage locker addict) and his goal is to NOT buy a locker tonight.  Here’s a clue for you Barry: if it’s true you are an addict, don’t go to an auction.

Darrel…gets a lkr for $3500.  Good stuff. Hope he clears the 3.5K. He says there’s another 200 boxes in there at $10 a box…$2K.   Looked like about 40 boxes to me.

Barry….gets a lkr for $310. Full of crap scrounged from dumpsters.

Jarrod….gets a lkr for  $1700. Old newspapers…worth any dough ?

More details ?   Watch the rerun !

I just wish the men would leave their wives at home, sick of listening to them complain.....shut up or go home Brandi. Dave you are such a girl, is yupp the most intelegent thing you can say. When on that rare moment I try to watch I mute the show when Dave is on just can't stand to listen to him. The least you could do is make the show more real. Who wants to go to an auction where people act like this and it is always the same people that win the bid. Why even bother to have the extras there everyone knows they aren't going to buy an unit.

its to bad they are playing him up like a complete douche lately

They're not playing him up. Just like some of the other cast members, you're finally getting to see his real personality.

There is quite a contrast between the "mock" tension and petty arguements seen between the show characters on tv, and the casual, friendly and sometimes humorous banter at the actual auctions that I have been at with them. There did not appear to be any actual tension between Darryl and his son.

The third time I ran into them was in Montebello. Even though the characters bought about 12 lockers collectively; none of those made it into the season finale. Must have been the usual lacker (typo intentional) blend of trash and ordinary items.
At one point, Barry was wearing blinders like some people use for sleeping. On camera, he put them over his eyes and said, " I might as well bid on this locker blind. Where is it anyway?"
Off camera, he moved them onto his forehead, walked around the corner from the "action" and leaned against the wall right between Darryl and his son. One of the wiseguys in the crowd said, " There's Barry, right between the Sheets" .

I outbid Barry for one 5x10 unit at $750. It had over 2000 DVDs, which would have been good if they hadn't all been bootlegs. Fortunately there was some other saleable stuff, so I might break even.
