a buddy of mine said he saw a preview for it and there was some guy in an all white suit bidding on every unit just to spend his money and win them all... my buddy said it drove barry crazy and he yelled..."now its personal!!!"  lol, i cant wait!  i love/hate dave, love barry and darrell and jarrod and brandi are fun to watch. overall the best of the three on tv IMHO--

really dislike storage hunters- could only watch 7 mins of it before i thought it was horribly faked and written crappy cable tv.  delete!
ton and allen of auction hunters are at least entertaining
but SW seems the least scripted.

Enjoy the dig!

I started out liking AH better than SW, but have now reversed that. AH is just too set up for me. The episode that turned me was with 4 lkrs at the site, they got two. One had the quad and the other had the little boat. Nope, can't buy that.

SW on the other hand has gotten a little more realistic with people losing money sometimes...Barry frequently.

I thought with the show going to new states that the whole buying crew would be new, but preview shows the regulars. The Las Vegas episodes were a stretch...4 hour drive from LA.  If they are in Texas, how does them buying lkrs fly at all. Only a couple of weeks to the answer.

i bet if they get lkrs (or when they get them) in tx, they probably have arrangements made for all their stuff to be hauled back to their respective locals (allthewhile paid for by A and E TV.< just taking a stab at how they would get their new merch back home)  then they live out there during production in hotels maybe?  YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUP!!

Enjoy the dig!

Well, in addition to quoting me in reply #4 above, bigbuygal also started an informative thread about some news she has on the new SW season. Here's the link to her thread:

http://storageauctionforums.com/index.php?topic=1366.msg6369#msg6369

Will be interesting to see that first episode considering the A&E promo for the new season shows the OLD crew from the southern CA area.

J Honda....

Everything I had read a month or so ago indicated they were coming to the Dallas area and my bet was that a new set of buyers would be recruited. Just didn't make sense to have southern CA buyers doing biz that many miles away.

The recent promo on A&E shows the old crew looking like they were gunfighters getting ready for a shootout (with a holstered flashlight as a weapon) and then a tumbleweed blows through the storage lkr street. "That was weird" says one of the guys, then offscreen narrator gives date for first episode.

Take a look at bigbuygal's link above....she has what looks like reliable info on the July 20 start-up.

Ok it sounds like the new Storage Wars Dallas is a diiferent show. The characters include several ladies, A Black guy, and a couple of cowboys. The Auctioneer is a Texas Cowboy right out of Texas, They did their first one at American Harbor Storage in Oak Cliff. This version of the show has nothing to do with the CA show. They will be running Both of them!!!!

Well, I'm starting to have some problems believing what I'm hearing about Storage Wars Dallas and will wait till the 20th to see what actually happens.

I'm wondering if the show being talked about by bigbuygal is in fact SOME OTHER SERIES as there have been rumors about NEW shows coming out, but as I just said, I can WAIT 12 days to find out when A&E's show pops up.

I find it hard to believe there would be Storage Wars (California) and Storage Wars Texas, but I've been wrong before, so no news there.

There is a season two photo area at A&E for Storage Wars, the link is below.

Also there is a video preview that's a bit harder to find. It shows Barry finding some guitars appraised at $5,500.

No indication of where these  pics/video were taken.

The CA/TX situation is still a mystery at this point.

You are getting confused. The Storage Wars Dallas is a NEW show, it has nothing to do with July 20th. All I can say is when they got to American Harbor Storage in Oak Cliff, bidders signed a release for Storage Wars Dallas and the Camera crew from A&E was there. They were all told it was Storage Was Dallas. A new show. I Called American Harbor and they confirmed that it was filmed there. Not of the California Actors will be on the new show. They are an all new cast.
Hope this clears it up for all of you!

I admit I was confused, but with each additional post you place it becomes a little clearer. So NOW it appears the California franchise was so popular they are going with the NEW series based in Dallas, and if what I read in the OTHER thread about Storage Wars, the new member RONIN says  the new one will start in the Fall. Waiting to hear where he got this info only because I like verified facts.

Here's the written promo from A&E's website.

*****

NEW YORK, NY, JUNE 20, 2011 - The stakes are higher; the rivalries more intense; the drama more explosive. Get set for a wild ride as everyone's favorite treasure hunters return for an action packed second season. All-new episodes of A&E's most watched nonfiction series "Storage Wars" will begin airing Wednesday, July 20 at 10pm ET/PT with back-to-back premieres.

"Storage Wars," which follows teams of bidders looking to score it big in the high stakes world of storage auctions, ranks as A&E's number one series of all time among adults 25-54. During its first season, the series averaged 2.8 million viewers per episode and peaked at 3.8 million.

In season two the hunt continues as the fortune foursome blaze through Southern California storage facilities  -- but with new enemies and higher stakes, finding auction treasure has never been more difficult. Dave Hester opens an auction house, forcing a sizable investment that could destroy his "Mogul" status. Troubles at home sideline Darrell Sheets' business, causing the "Gambler" to take desperate measures. And the rivalry between them both has never been more heated. Meanwhile, Jarrod and Brandi open an annex to their shop, laying down the gauntlet to their bankrolled competition. And after selling rap impresario Suge Knight's clothes, Barry Weiss is just trying to stay out of trouble. Hollywood memorabilia and vintage guitars are just a small measure of the plunder to be found and in this world where cash is king and winner takes all, it's anyone's guess who will come out on top.

"Storage Wars" is produced by Original Productions, a FremantleMedia Company ("Ice Road Truckers" and "Deadliest Catch") for A&E Network. Executive producers are Thom Beers and Philip D. Segal. Jeff Conroy is co-executive producer and Dolph Scott is series producer. A&E executive producers are David McKillop and Elaine Frontain Bryant.

Warning: this post has "spoilers" if you haven't seen the episode.

It's official, SW tonight, 7 20 2011 in Victorville, CA with Barry getting a guitar and taking it to.....Arrowsmith !

More later.

Barry getting ready to open his locker...pulling plastic off something that looks like a white couch..... he finds guitars in the cushions.

Dave paid around $2750 for a lkr that Jarrod wanted....looked to me like Jarrod was just running him up; A double door frig and a pet kennel being the two things that Dave said made it the whole household....have to be a good one to clear the "nut" then make some profit. I would have gone $800 given my quick TV look!

Darrell finds a skull radio....I'm going to guess the TV value will be.....$400 !

Dave says he can get $700 or so for the frig....in my area $400 would be good. Just found something heavy (commercial break).

***

The clock if an original Oswald from the 30s would be $1500...not original case...worth $150.

Dave pulls out a rusty old pedal car.....in old market $1500....today's market as is...$400.

Barry strikes some GOLD with his guitars and amp !

On to the 2nd NEW episode !

2nd episode tonight..7 20 2011.

Some nice lockers for each of the competitors.....Jarrod and wife starting to spend some money on bigger, better lockers.  One good find in a box..a nice vintage camera.

Dave gloats (as usual) about his purchase of vending machines....in my area they go for $250 for 6 or more in a lkr.
(at end of show he claims around $30K value for all of them).

Barry....yee-haw...finds some western gear.

Darrel.....the report is still out on him...last thing I heard him say was he needed to stop worrying about Dave Hester !

Two new episodes tonight, and more of the same...showing more losing lkrs now, but still a fair amount of great items.

Here's what I noticed the most though...an editing error in the "Eskimo Pie" lkr that Darrell got.

*****

Movies (and TV) have continuity people who make notes on what is happening, where people are standing, etc. This is more important in movies if a shot is stopped and then reshot (take 2) so that some "continuity" is maintained when editing takes place. In other words, if the woman in red has only one of her two white, long gloves on when the cameras stop, it would be a bad thing if she had on two gloves when the next take is edited in.

WELL, when the door is opened on the "Eskimo Pie" lkr there are three boxes on the right that are neatly stacked. One on top says "medium box". They cut away to face shots of the players. When they cut back, the boxes are NOT neatly stacked ! One on top is tilted half way into the box below it. Also, a white rocking chair (empty before) NOW has a box sitting in it. THIS IS TERRIBLE editing, and also shows that the middle (open boxes shot) was taken AFTER  the lkr was purchased and gone through (that isn't supposed to be shown until later.)

Hope I explained that enough....if you record this on a Tivo or other DVR you can go back and watch this a frame at a time. I expect them to do it right....one of the few mistakes I've seen, but now I'll watch even closer.

Anyone eles notice that they have the same auctioner all the time! Even in Vegas. Don't know about you all but I get different ones each place I go. Also do they all travel in a pack and never go to any other auctions? THE SHOW IS SCRIPTED AND IS FOR PURE ENTRTAINMENT VALVE. Unless you beleive everything you see on TV. We did a poll on the radio and took 30 calls and 5 say its real and unscripted and 25 say fake and are getting board with the show. But hey if your out of work this will slove all problems and you will get rich and Robin leech will be doing a story on you.

Yuuupp !  Dotson (the auctioneer) is always on the scene no matter where they go, so YES arrangements have been made it would seem....unless Dotson already had the contract to do the Storage One auctions in Las Vegas.

As to the ? do they never go to any other auctions.....In one of the Las Vegas episodes, Dave Hester had gotten up before the rest of the pack and gone to other auctions (presumably from other auctioneers). Otherwise, they may have an agreement with the Storage Wars show to NOT go to other auctions as this might DILUTE their presence on SW. Or, they might go to others and we wouldn't know.

I am interested to see if the SW Dallas show is truly done by the same production company for the same network (A&E). It's unclear at this moment as two posters here ...BigBuyGal and Ronin seem to be at odds about what is going on there...show (whoever is doing it) is supposed to start in the Fall (a month or so away).

If the network was smart they would have wwe on right after storage wars. Then thwy can have two real unscripted shows back to back. 100% real tv.

Its a tv show . In there defense they never stated the show had no fiction. Its all theatre of the mind. Its entertainment. Would you pay several thousands of dollars to place your commerical during a tv show if it was pure crap?

Nope, nor would I pay several thousand dollars for a load of crap in a locker which is what the reality is at
a lot of auctions these days.

SW, Wednesday, August3, 2011

As usual, the lockers pour forth some goodies...

Darrel seems off his mark (like he's sick or something) but that doesn't stop him from scoring a slide projector
that might actually be worth something.

Dave....paid big for a junk lkr but knowing Dave (and the producers) those old posters will be worth their weight in GOLD....and at today's price for gold ! ?

Jarrod and Brandi....didn't get a lkr.

Barry .... looks behind a couch and even he says "unbelievable"....you'll have to watch....I can't describe it.

Another new episode coming up tonight !

I must confess , I got all set up to watch the New episodes of both Auction Hunters and Storage Hunters/Forbidden Storage ( plus taping them ).
When I saw the credits with Ton in a $ 40,000. Bobcat , I switched to the "Really Fake Show " just in time to hear the Auctioneer shout out " A Wet Dream Of A Unit "  .
Instead of His usual " I Can Tell its a Good Unit , My Balls Itch " .                                         Sorry I can't give You Guys and Gals a report , I switched to  a Disney Movie .

I missed the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half hour of SW, but it's looking interesting anyway....

Barry got into a bidding war with a guy on two lockers...he got one of them and has just found an interesting box of vials of.....something... and an old penny arcade machine.

Meanwhile Dave lays out $9K for a lkr with maybe 90 or so boxes of ..... some kind of light show boxes (maybe disco type). All new in boxes from China....end of show will give us an idea of his outrageous profit.

Darrel....leaves saying he's not here to be in a "p....." contest.

Jarrod and Brandi....paid $2,800 for a lkr .... not full at all. Knott's Berry Farm ...will it be the key to a fortune.

Wednesday, August 10, 2011....

First episode tonight...Barry gets a cool pool cue holder from the Victorian Era.

Otherwise.....

PAY THE LADY !

****

Now for part 2:

The couple score with one of the coolest old-timey things I've seen in a long time....bird boxes....check them out!

Mark (whatever) is back spending his way to celebrity as the new guy to hate....he gets a Nintendo (NES) he claims sold for $13.5K online. Takes his to a game store....you guessed it, he gets what we would get....not much.

******

So, SW seems to be improving a bit in the realism dept with the guys getting their fair share of duds now and again.

Barry gets a lkr for $350 with 3 ez-ups and 3 circus sideshow canvas sheets.

Jarrod gets the “wine box” locker for $1700…..gets silver and gold but not a winner.

Jarrod tweeks Dave and raises him 2 grand and Dave gets it for $8K…..car parts and a violin by Stradivarius ?

Darrell goes away without anything again…..

Two of the 4 lost money….reality TV !

Storage Wars….Unlocked !

The four bidders get together with Dotson and the executive producer of the show in the now shuttered Sahara casino in Las Vegas and ditch the dirt on the show and the personalities. You gotta watch this one whether your’re a “newbie” or a “pro”.  Good stuff.

I prefer Storage Wars to Auction Hunters.  Auction Hunters never gets a loser, and I don't know anyone that always hits a home run, especially on the 'we travel the country and buy lockers' stunt.
I got a kick out of the $1,000,000 Stradivarius Violin that wouldn't get $200.  Hester seems to think everything he buys is top of the line.  (Remember the used tires and other crap he said was worth an 'easy 1k?)
He must have some of the dumbest and richest customers alive if he gets 2/3 of what he says that stuff is worth.  $375 for a washer and dryer set?  Don't they have Best Buy's in Cali?
