Auction Scene #11...November, 2012

My auction runs are going to be very slow until after January. Maybe get to one a week..(maybe)...Have to work on selling lots more merchandise right now.

Only a few days left in November, 2012 and it's going to raining cats and a few dogs around here through the next few days...crowd should therefore be BIG !

Three regular auctions tomorrow the 28th and then a piece by piece on Friday.  Picking continues to do well.

Yea, just saw it on the news..a few days of it heading to central Calif. ugh!

Went to three of about 5 close auctions yesterday, Nov 28 and they were basically a bust for anyone except the newbies. Prices were not unreasonable but quality was marginal at best. Newbies are still learning that just because you CAN buy it (you have the cash) doesn't mean you SHOULD buy it.

At one place two lockers at opposite ends of the hall were each opened to speed up the process.  After looking at the 2nd locker and all of us going out into the 'street' one fellow went back down to the first locker for a 2nd look.

While he was doing that the auctioneer stressed about FIVE times that he was selling the 2nd locker first (even though it had been opened 2nd) as it was the cheesy, clothes all over the floor crap we often see.  So, he's auctioning it and he's getting ready to holler SOLD at the $25 mark when the late looker runs down the hallway shouting "wait, wait" and erupts from the hallway door to ask "Which locker are you doing?"

Auctioneer tells him LOUDLY and SARCASTICALLY it is the clothes locker. Can't blame the auctioneer for this attitude..blame the newbie who isn't paying attention.

As the newbie is walking past me I asked him "Did you really think the other locker you were looking at would sell for $25?"

His response "Well, I had to ask."   So, he has guts enough to stand beside me even though I had just put him down, and asks me "What do you think the good one will go for?" 

I told him between $500 and $700.  It went for $450.  It was a good box locker and I should have bid on it, but it would have gone up to $600 plus and I wasn't willing to go there...not to mention it was pouring rain !

Oh well, there are always more auctions, more lockers.
