So, I broke my old mag lite this morning. (didn't realize it had fallen out of the truck and I ran over it) So, I stopped by the hardware store and the only bright led mag lite they had was a color called gun metal grey. I grabbed it and headed off to auction. I wasn't there 15 mins when I overheard someone say, "Nice lavender flashlight". When I realized he was talking to me I looked down, and I'll admit it does have a purple tint to it. I would have probably been really embarrassed if I hadn't been so fixated on the fact that a basically toothless man in torn Carhart coveralls knew the word lavender and actually used it to correctly describe a color. Anyway, I think I'm going to spray paint this thing...http://twitpic.com/4f1mxo (http://twitpic.com/4f1mxo)

Well, it might be a nice complement (color wise) to the item described in the thread link below, and the phrase "where the sun don't shine" comes to mind also for that thread where a flashlight might come in handy.

I have the same flashlight. It is gun metal, there aint no red tint in it. Tell the old farmer to sit on his JD and rotate in a field somewhere.
....cause a flashlight is gonna make you a man an an auction, not the bill fold in your pocket.

I've seen some rednecks similar to the guy you described with flashlights big enough to spotlight a deer at these auctions. As for the purple flashlight I would just keep it as-is, it takes a real man to carry a $30 lavender flashlight

I just picked up a stanley 2 mil myself. Should be able to see the rear of any 30 footer with this thing. My MAG wasn't quite strong enough sometimes. Problem is its gonna be a task to carry around.
