There are two auctions in the next two days where I live and the high here today is negative 4.  Do they ever cancel auctions due to poor turnout? Sorry if that's a silly question.  I just have a feeling few people will show up

Considering there are over 50,000 storage facilities in the USA there are at least as many answers to your question, but GENERALLY most places will conduct an auction if there are at least 3 people in attendance. I have seen it happen with just 2 buyers there.

It's more likely the auctions would be cancelled "due to weather" (which might or might not cut down on attendance).

A standard thought is "I'll go because no one else will". Many people have that thought and then many show up.

In general, I believe that the facilities do everything they can to prevent cancelling the auction because they'd have to reschedule a full month out. The way I see it is, if the employees go to work, the auction is on.

The average cost of placing a legal notice in a newspaper is $200-300, sometimes more depending on the length of the length of the ad. Once the ad is placed, the storage facility is pot committed. They will most likely proceed with the sale since they don't want to spend more money placing another legal notice.

They ended up postponing until later in the month. They were concerned about getting the locks off a d doors open per the manager.

I think that's code for, they didn't want to be out in the cold..
