Title: Does your day job have anything to do with buying and selling?

I reckon that would make selling a whole lot easier.  Especially if you had some kind of business where you could already sell your stuff.

my day job deals with negotiating but no buying or selling. 

I just started an estate sale company which hopefully becomes my primary
