Title: Anybody get in on buying the Presidential Coins for the Credit Card Points?
Post by: rulesforrebels on August 08, 2011, 08:33:50 PM
Anybody get in on this? As a promo to sell the presidential dollar coins the mint was taking credit and debit cards online, selling dollar coins for face value and offering free shipping.

People could then buy up to $1000 at a time which they could then turn right back into the bank and pay off the credit card immediatly all while earning  bunch of credit card points.

The best part is they did this back in 2009 and this is what happened adn they did it again but this time put a $1000 cap on it so you just had to order more times which doesn't cost you any more than ordering in bulk lol.

One guy apparently bought over $325,000 and turned it all back into the bank all while earning 5% cash back from his american express card. I heard another story of a guy who bought over 800K however not sure if taht one is true.

I had bought some of the coins but due to me being a collector.  I hadn't ever thought about doing that until read about it months ago.  By then it was a $1000 limit and now they have closed that loop.
