Title: Mt. Everest...60 Million Years on Earth...60 years of trash !
Post by: MovieMan on March 06, 2014, 09:42:22 AM
Now here's an appropriate story for "The Dump"

Mt. Everest was successfully climbed 60 years ago with "primitive" mountain climbing gear by Edmund Hillary, but 60 years later high-tech climbers are leaving behind mountains of trash, including empty fuel and oxygen containers and the usual waste of packaged foods, etc.

These climbers are anything but "green" to the mountain.

Well, anyone who climbs the mountain now has to help clean it up. Here's a quote from the same article:

"“From now on, a climber is required to bring down eight kilograms of waste, and that excludes their own empty oxygen bottles and human dung,” Madhusudhan Burlakoti, joint secretary of Nepal’s tourism ministry."

Yeah, the dung part would be a huge turn off not to climb for me.
