What's the oldest item you've ever found in a locker?

My oldest find was an antique gilded mirror from the 17th century.

No, but she follows me into them. Then I turn around and 'find' her standing there.

I found a Halberd ( pole axe) head in a unit last year. It was just authenticated as 1490s from central Europe. It is not for sale.

Really cool. My brother would be envious.

Scratch my last post, I just found 2 pieces of pre-colombian pottery in my last unit. I thought they were fake due to their excellent condition, but had them checked anyway. They are called Chimu, From Peru, and from around 900 A.D.

Pretty sure that will be my oldest for a while.

Pretty cool, did the appraiser give you a value estimate?

I actually found a box of that in a unit as well.  Never got it checked out but its all marked "pre columbian" each piece though, from research, is only about $50-$150 though.

"Pre-Columbian" is what I get when I let the wife make coffee.

He said 1-2000 for the cracked and repaired double vessel, and 2-5000 for the other. But without paperwork maybe half that is realistic.  Still works for me.

Who did you go to, to get the those pieces appraised? I have a lot of pre-columbian pieces i will like to get appraised and I know you live in South Florida.

I'm thinking of donating all the pieces I have so I can get a large tax write off for a few years.

I have found plenty of those Roman, Greek, Byzantine coins that are plus or minus 500 years the birth of Christ. Not sure that really counts since most of those being sold in catalogs or coin stores were dug out of the ground in the last 50 years. Not like they are family heirlooms passed down for generations.
