You just never know...

So I bought a unit several months ago and there was this stupid poster in it. It has been laying around here in my way and I keep moving it not sure where to put it. It's a poster for a reunion concert for Cream from London in 2007. Psychedelic crazy crap in my opinion and I have never heard of the band. I know old posters can be worth alot of money but this one doesn't fit into that category. Anyway I decide to look it up and see if it has any value before I throw it away. To my surprise the dang thing is worth somewhere around $500.00. They only made 250 that are signed by the designer and have an embossed logo. Guess this is one for e-bay. You just never know what you have until you look into it. Glad I didn't just throw it away.

Those are the best finds. Had a similar experience recently. Small odd mixed media type painting, bought it in a box lot at an estate auction for $5 about 6 months ago. Signed and dated 1960. I've picked it up a couple times never found the artist name anywhere. Something about it tells me not to let it go, also it's small enough that it's not taking up space. Had a 'picker' friend over recently and he saw it and said "there's something interesting about this. You should research it". So, I look at it again, google it a bit and find something by the same artist on Ruby Lane for $8500.  Dug a little deeper and found some other works at auctions over the last few years, some substantially more although much larger paintings. Took it to a professional and he estimates that we could probably get anywhere from $3000 to $8000 for it.

Wow nice find dbr. I've learned over the years to listen to that little voice. I found a small painting one day at the auction barn preview that spoke to me. I decided to look it up and see what it was. French artist from the 1930 and they go for $150 to $300. Everyone was shocked when I took it up to $27.50. Art normally goes between $5 and $10. I sold it for $175.
Expensive art can be hard to sell. I am still hanging on to two Thomas Kinkade prints I scored early this year and a Fredrick Remington Bronze. I'm not advertising them anywhere because they are a draw for customers but if I were really trying to get rid of them I'm sure they would be a tough sell.
