Do you bid on vehicles at auctions?

When boats, cars, trucks, trailers, motorcycles, RVs, etc. come along, do you bid on them? Why or why not?

Of course I do. Even if there's no title there is good money to be made on parting it out or selling it off for scrap metal.

I do.  Only thing I've even won was a scooter.  I (IMO) get outbid because I bid according to work vs parts value while others bid on straight sale.   Parting out is more money but people seem to bid as if they are going to restore it and make a bundle.  And they seem to think cars are valued way higher than they are.

I saw a guy bid $2600 on an old CJ5 jeep.  He was saying he's seen them go for $10,000.
Yeah, but to get $10k your going to have to dump in $20k of parts and hundreds of hours of labor!
Plus you can buy one you know it runs and has a clear title, in *okay* shape, for $1000!

I like to part out.  Don't have to worry about title, don't care if it runs, has keys.....

If I want cars to part out I go to dealerships and by the junk trade-ins. Or if to flip I use my friends dealer license  and go to the auto auction.

Just like on eBay Motors or Craigslist. Sometimes I swear, people really don't have a clue as to how to value vehicles. For example, I've been keeping my eyes open lately for a Jeep Grand Cherokee for someone. People are trying to sell 10-year old ones with 200K miles for 4-5 grand. I'm like, are you friggin' kidding me. Who in their right mind pays that kind of money for something with that kind of mileage on it?
