'Made in Italy' Glassware

'Made in Italy' Glassware
« on: October 05, 2011, 10:43:53 PM »
Was wondering if anyone had any tips for telling good glass. I have two bottles, one is a 'blue moon' decanter with a cheap paper wrap and appears to have been painted blue. The paper wrap proclaims 'made in italy' but no markings on the bottom. The other is a duck/goose decanter that comes apart at the neck. Its almost like a wine bottle. It has made in italy engraved on the bottom. It has a good bit of weight and I'm thinking it may be amber. Here's a pic, would appreciate any advice/help.

Can't help you with the glassware, but I bet at least one is worth more than that Martin Luther King picture highlighted by a $3 quartz clock set into his left jacket pocket !

He had a dream....but I doubt it was having people look at his pic when they wanted to know what time it was.  ???

Not an expert on glass, but I am gonna take a stab at this.

The duck glass, in an antique shop/mall/booth $25-$50; flea market or yard sale $5-$10; Ebay ?

The blue moon glass, recycle, shooting target, spitoon, etc.

Here is a link to an auction for the exact thing you have but the auction ended already......you might be able to get ahold of the seller and find out what it is worth

Thanks for the link, went through the process of signing up to try and do just that, but it being for AU the verification was difficult. That is the first one I've seen exactly like mine after 2+ hours of google/ebaying though.

What did the "duck" decanter finally sell for?

I decided not to pursue its monetary value, which my heart tells me can not be more than $50. It sits on top of my fridge, next to some other "cool" things like a statue of a gargoyle and a 1983 un-opened Harley Davidson Beer.

Its weird because I'm the type of guy who RARELY keeps anything from a locker, but I really liked this piece. The blue moon bottle has made it through three yard sales without a single inquiry of price. (Which would be a dollar by the way!)  :P
