Title: 40-50 Unopened Beer Cans!
Post by: the teacher on March 17, 2011, 12:24:09 AM
I didn't get any pictures, but I have two boxes full of old beer cans (all of them still full).  This came out of a unit I got a couple of weeks ago, and I just set them in my office and forgot about them until today and started looking at them.  I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow.  Just wondering if any of those older cans are worth anything?  Some of them are tin cans and a lot of them have the old pull tabs.  They have some interesting names, and there are some from one of the Kentucky Derbies from the 80's.  I'll get some more info up tomorrow.

Here's a couple of pictures of some of the cans.  This is about a quarter of them, but it's enough to give you an idea.  Anybody think these might be worth anything or should I just toss them?

There's a pretty big market for collectible beer cans. I'm no expert but my understanding is that they should be emptied (the beer will eventually rot out the can). I believe the serious collectors will pop a hole in the bottom to drain them, leaving the top opening intact.

Thanks for that link.  I just saved it.  Now I'll have to sit down some night and run all my cans down his list.  At first glance, it looks like I have mostly 70's and some 80's, so likely not worth much at all.  Oh well, I like to know for sure before I get rid of anything.  It would suck to throw out a $1000 beer can!
