Title: Antique secretaries desk?
Post by: otbg on October 27, 2011, 03:07:36 PM
Anybody have any info on something like this? It was in a unit I won yesterday with some other antiques/furniture.

Thanks!

It looks like it could've been the desk the Declaration of Independence was written on! ;)

I have one similar top glass part not as nice someone painted the inside red. the letter sorter is missing two hidden compartment drawers. To each side of the square in the middle.
Not sure what the proper name is either secretary. Think I found the name
break front secretary bookcase.

Thanks for the info...it definitely helped me get going in the right direction. using the term slant front secretary bookcase really helped me find some similar items. I actually found one that had a different base but the exact same pattern on the glass.

This is why I have always loved antiques and pursued on with this passion of mine. It is often the stories behind those antique pieces that intrigue me to continue on in this field. What lies beneath the beautiful pieces is something that you would want to explore deeply into.
