I found a night vision monocular, coin collection, gold jewelry and a kevlar vest last month.  Weird reading your finds and thinking 'hey, i found that same stuff!'  Nice finds.  Did the night vision work for you or was it screwed up before you powered it up?  I got one of the older gen1 devices and they apparently break themselves if they aren't used for a while.  Mine went to the trash.

Back on topic.

I want to find guns, precious metals and anything antique/ unique.  I seem to find mattresses, boxes of clothes and IKEA furniture made with the finest particle board you can buy.

The night vision was gen3 and i sold for 1500.  I know you can recharge those, not sure about the gen1.

So far in 11 units I have found:

A gun
Nigh Vision goggles
A coin collection
A motorcycle
Gold jewelry
Kevlar Vest

One thing I am hoping for is a shotgun to complete my home defense collection.

Stories about Storage Auctions / My 3rd Unit...Jackpot!!
« on: October 10, 2011, 12:07:56 AM »
So this is the 3rd unit ive bot.  There were over 300 people at this auction and every unit was going for double or triple the regular prices.  It didnt look promising.  After about 10 units I found a unit and just decided I was going to get it.  Everything in unit was wrapped up in shipping paper with overseas shipping tape on it.  There were some military fatigues showing.  You couldnt see anything else in the locker.  I had a feeling for some reason that I HAD to get this unit.  I started the bidding and ended it at 430.

After the auction I went into the unit and opened up the side pocket of a black duffle bag.  Military issue NIGHT VISION GOGGLES!  Bam!  I just tripled my money.  Opened the bag to find a bulletproof vest and some military fatigues.  Loaded up the rest of the boxes in my trailer in about 10 minutes and drove home.

Got home and began opening box after box of new with tags/in packaging military gear:  Jackets, Pants, rain gear, sleeping bags, ruck sacks, goggles (3 pair), sunglasses (5 Pair), boots (3 pair),  military figurines new in boxes from China (3) that are pretty valuable, plus a lot of decent used clothes.

So it was a really good day, just wanted to share my experience.

I went to an auction that was definitely stage by the owner this week.  In every unit there was something interesting right in plain sight.  A gun case up front, several tool cases, sports memorabilia, etc.  Also, everything else was stacked up neatly and clean.  After buying one unit and visiting several others after the auction,  all the cases, labeled boxes, etc were all empty!  Should have known better since the manager had items in his office for sale with price tags on it.  Also one unit the auctioneer said the owner would not take a bid less than 1000 on this unit.

Yeah but after researching it and finding out it is one of the cheapest pistols ever made (Lorcin) plus not knowing if it even fired, I just wanted to get rid of it.  And a friend wanted it for parts.

There are 16 of the half dollars that are 1969 or earlier.  Also lots of dimes, pennies, and nickels.  Some from 1800's.
