Here is an important tip no matter what you are selling on craigslist.  Cause I see some of you are talking about slow sales.

Always, and I mean always, after your ad has been on craigslist for 48 hours, delete your ad and relist it.  The purpose of this is to get the ad to top of the category where it is seen again, otherwise it just gets lost pages down, and you will never sell this item.

I been selling used cars on there and been relisting in this fashion for 2 years. Also craiglist will not let you relist before 48 hours, and they will tell you this if you try to delete early.

Hope that helps out a few of you.

Great Tip countinguy, just like with Facebook ads it is best to repost to get back too the top of the list after 24 hours.

Good tip, I always continue to repost like you said because you want to be seen  by people browsing not only by people searching for your specific item.

I normally don't take down my old ads however you have a good point with that. Especially with cars. When I'm searching for a specific make and model and I see the same guys ads for the Cadillac Eldoraro $2000, few days later $1800, few days later $1600. I know there's not much interest or its priced too high for cl and know I can lowball them.

I know that is the case (browsing vs. searching), but I have never understood this.
What are the chances that if I want a gizmo that it will be listed high in the list if I just call up today's listings? I would say next to none.

On the other hand, if I do a search it may pull up 6 gizmos that were listed from 5 days to 2 weeks ago. AND, that of course WOULD be a possible sign I could bargain with the seller as rfr indicated. That could certainly work for me as a buyer, and even possibly as a seller. If I have built in some bargaining margin, it's no problem for me to come down a bit.

I will usually let items go a week and then delete and relist them along with some new items.
