Trying to sell vintage speakers on Craigslist

Trying to sell vintage speakers on Craigslist
« on: December 18, 2014, 10:02:05 AM »
I just won an auction in Rochester. In the unit there are several large, vintage speakers. I don't know what category on Craigslist to post these speakers. I tried electronics, but that's not really the category that would work. Any suggestions? The speakers work, and they look pretty cool.

Vinny, welcome to the forum.

I think the electronics section on Craigslist is your best bet. These may take some time to sell because the market is so limited.

I know eBay has a vintage electronics category, but it might not be feasible to ship large speakers.

Yah, I definitely can't do eBay, way too big. I'll hold out for craigslist. Still pretty excited to have won my first auction, I expect to make a profit.

If you do local pickup make sure you only accept cash as ebay has no way to prove you sold and delivered an item without a tracking number. I got burned on this one time.

I'm always on the lookout for old Leslie speaker cabinets. There are always a few other people in the crowd who know what they are and what they're worth, but the majority of other bidders are clueless.

That's the wonderful thing about our business. Knowledge is power and knowledge is gained by experience. The spoils go to those who can identify and value items others can't.

That is a good suggestion for getting cash when selling via eBay for local pick up. Local pick up may take a little bit of time for you since when the buyer arrives, they may not like the item or unit and you end up showcasing it without the guarantee that the prospect would buy it.
