A buddy of mine was recently asking me this question. I guess a few years back he was kinda half assing his ebay sales didn't really care about eBay, had some stuff listed went on vacation shipped late. He never realized it but his ebay privileges were suspended due to too many low DSR or something along those lines. He now is into auctions and has a use for ebay and realized he couldn't sell which sucks for him. He called up no luck. I'd always heard once you screw up on ebay and get banned there's no getting it back and any future accounts you setup will be quickly discovered. Just curious if anyone has run into this and managed to get it reversed.

Throug doing some research online it seems its basically impossible. I was surprised to see some great sellers with like 1500 feedback got suspended for basically no negative feedback just DSR scores below what ebay wants. Just curious if anyone else has any experience with this.

He can setup a new account, just don't use the same PayPal information or email address as in the suspended account. If he gets called on the carpet for the same name and address, all he has to say is that must've been his father's account.

Also make sure he words his listings differently.

I was banned .. 99.8% positive for shipping late during HURRICANE SANDY .. ya know when we didn't have power for 3 weeks.. they immediately banned me and removed 100+ listings.

I set up a new account, new pay pal ..etc. and was given the initial $5k authority.  I listed 3 things and it said that my wording in descriptions was similar to a banned account and that they would temporarily suspend me while they investigate.  3 hours later that account was locked and all my new listings were removed.

I loathe ebay and pay pal.

Do you have an eBay account now?  If so, how soon after the "banning" did you get a working account established?

I have one now.  I just couldn't list any of the items I previously had listed.  As fast as you can set up a new email/pay pal you can have a new ebay account.

I would start off small, listing maybe 5 items  to make sure they don't swoop in and delete your postings.

I've heard you also need to open a new bank account to link your new PayPal account to and use a different computer with different IP address.

I've known a few people who have tried this strategy, not only do you need a new address and email address but typically you have to get a new Paypal account as well as they link your ebay and paypal account and if you use the same account it's only a matter of time before they find you out. Ebay also monitors IP addresses so you'lll also need to use the internet at another location of use a proxy or something to disguise your IP address.

You can probably get away with this for a few sales but as we all know you start ebay with a low seller limit. Your account is reviewed to up your limit and htey will pretty  much always catch duplicate accounts on the review. I've known a few people who sold maybe 5 items and then get popped off.

You pretty much have to buy an established ebay and Paypal account. You can buy accounts all types of places like WarriorForum and other online money making forums or you can go to the deep web sites and buy like a verified PP account and an ebay account with like 20 feedback. This can still get shut down at any time so you want to not keep money sitting in that account as it could be closed and the money lost but its something.

Yeah there's some people who clearly should be banned people who sell things and scam people or even people who sell and wait weeks to ship but there's plenty of stories of people with very well established accounts with like 2000 plus feedback who get accounts shutdown over a single 1 star dsr rating that could have been an accident or something. Many small sellers were saying ebay was trying to purge small sellers.

From what I've heard its almost impossible to get an account back once banned and once banned your banned from life so there's really no downside to trying to get around ebay and trick them into letting you sell. I'd first start by calling up and trying to appeal or get an account review but chances are you'll just be read a scriptedt message and it's over. I'd try that once if you have no luck you can try to trick them

Mind, I've never been terribly active with eBay, so I am perhaps a bit incorrect in some of this. That said, I've gone through a fair share of eBay accounts in ten years (3-5) due to various things eBay deemed worth banning over. All but two of these (my first account and my latest, which is still active) were buyer-only accounts, with buyer-only violations. Forgot to pay for a few things on two (when I was young/lazy) and I was deemed a scammer on another (I demanded a return, things got heated, I don't remember the details).

All that said, it's easy to get banned off eBay. It's easier to get a new account, especially if years pass and he wasn't a huge seller.

After years they won't care very much. People have duplicate names and addresses, so as long as he sets up a new eBay, a new PayPal, and has a new credit card he should be fine, even if his address and name are the same and he can't tweak that at all ("Richard" becomes "Rick", etc.). Just pick a UN that's drastically different from his old one, don't paste any speels from his old ads (such as an identical, word-for-word pasting of his shipping policy) and keep your head low for a few listings. He should be fine, as long as he doesn't mess up again.

I was more curious about people legitimately getting accounts back vs workarounds but curious to hear about anything. I have an account in good standing and no ebay problems but was asked about this a while back and looked around on the net for solutions for a colleague and seems it's almost impossible to get an account back unless there's some situation like your account was hacked and used by someone else and you can somehow prove it and even then imagine a huge headache.

As to starting new accounts, yeah anyone can start a new account and be setup within a matter of minutes, however new accounts are prety closely moniotored and if nothing else as soon as you want to sell more than a handful of items they will review your account to up either your limite or number of items and tehy will figure it out.

This isn't the same world we were living in even 5 years ago, the amount of technology and algorithms and stuff that sites have these days is crazy. They check IP addresses, wording of listings, types of items, addresses. The more you play around with using friends addresses and everything else basically the more addresses and ip addresses you blow up for others ie if those people were to try to use ebay in the future htey will have headaches. Can probably still get accounts or explain situation but I would guess ebay may blcok all addresses and stuff associated with your and your account as well.

A while back I had an offer to buy one of my ebay accounts for quite a bit of money but wouldn't do it because A. its against policy but even if I decided to ignore that, that account is forever associated with me so if the buyer of the account violates paypal or ebay they will shut down my account even though I had nothing to do with it and no explaining its not me as your not supposed to be selling accounts in the first place.

It's quite scary how ebay is really starting to get too strict about rules like this . But I suppose that they have to do something to maintain a certain level of service to buyers. Maybe your friend can appeal his case?
