Are prices finally back??
« on: September 08, 2011, 10:18:10 AM »
And not getting that many people has been great! The last 7 live auctions I have been to have been great! Just great. Prices are back to normal it seems. The average price is around $450 for 10 x 15 and $ 600-700 for 10x 20. Its been great not having the crowds cause the best way to buy a unit is to get a good real world look at whats inside not photos but a on your knees with a flashlight look. Hopfully this is a sign of better and great things to come. And with gas prices dropping its not as bad driving to location to location with lower gas prices.

SLC,Utah. Last 7 auctions with a minum of 5 units per location (SEEING 35 UNITS) and think people have learned paying retail just wasnt working for them. Maybe storage bors sent a hidden message telling people there is no award for spending so much and getting so little. The idea and common sense tells you Buy LOW and sell High. Not buy HIGH and sell LOW. As you and other smart buyers know if you didnt get a great LKR today there will  be a better or just as good LKR comming up soon. I beleive people are starting to learn tough lessons in the auction world. Some people don't know the stove is hot and will burn you t'll they touch it and other knows its hot and will burn you.

I picked up a 10x25 that was 70% full for 300 bucks on Tuesday.  In an affluent neighborhood about an hour from me.  no big gunners or regulars there.  There were about 20 people there but only one other guy and me were bidding on 3 separate lockers.  He bought the other 2.

Sounds to me like you found a sweet spot area. An area far enough main peeps are unfamiliar with and a location that may not do much advertising. Those are fun.

It is hit or miss here. Sometimes there are auctions that go "as they should" and others that leave you scratching your head wondering what the hell just happened?

I've been lucky in my part of GA.  Most of the crowds are under 20 people.  Depending if any other auctions are going on the most I've seen is close to 30.  The exception is saturday auctions.  That brings out the crowds and clowns.

True that! Lockers that would got for $800 max go for $3500 and $200 units that go for a grand.
