Do you sell merchandise without testing it?
« on: October 13, 2014, 07:38:30 PM »
I finally sold this pool chlorine generator that I've been trying to get rid of for several months on eBay. Other than plugging it in, I couldn't really test it. Luckily, the buyer contacted me to let me know that he hasn't had to use chlorine for a week and that everything seemed to be working well.

So, I guess my question is, do you sell merchandise without testing it? I'm talking about stuff that would be difficult or impossible to test. For example, who wants to go through the trouble of hooking up a washing machine to see if it works? Is selling untested items on eBay worth the risk, especially since there are shipping costs involved?

I test everything i know how to test. Sometimes i'll get network switches or other items i cant fully test, but i will make sure they power on.

One of the hardest things for me to test are landline telephones. No one has a hard line anymore and i have to save those for when i got to my parents.

i try to test most things. i dont test washers and dryers, but i give a 7 day money back guarantee. I sell tons of them and have only had one dryer come back.

Yeah, same here. Rarely have I ever come across one that didn't work. People need major appliances, so when they break down, people fix them quickly.
