How do you value lockers with an obstructed view?

I'll be bidding on a locker this week that has an obstructed view. It's a 10X15 but you can't see more than a few feet in. None of the items in front are worth a whole lot (mostly household items and children's toys) but everything you can see seems to be in excellent condition. There are signs that this unit contains an entire household of merchandise. My guess is the goodies are in the back, but it's a total gamble.

I feel fairly confident that I could get at least get my money back if I bid around $500 for this locker.

When you're bidding on units like this, how do you value them?

i remember one unit where it was a large unit and it basically had one of those moving blankets drapped entirely over the front of the unit so you couldn't see in at all. bidding got up to like $1400 whcih really surprised me as it was a total crapshoot. all that was in the unit was 2 remote controls for some construction equipment. theguy who bought it wound up taking a loss but fortunately someone else bought the unit with the construction equipment that wouldn't work without those remotes lol so the guy wound up recouping like $600 selling them to that guy. i dont remember what the equipment was i wanna say some kind of asphalt paving machine

It really depends. Depends on size of the unit, what's obstructing the view, how it's packed, etc. There's an auction on SB relatively close to me, the locker door is not able to open fully, from what you can see, it looks like a bunch of clothes, kids stuff, and general household stuff. Bid is at $270. It's a 10x20, but still too rich for my blood. This stuff would take a while to sell to get the investment back, let alone make a profit from.. I'd go about $150 on it, especially because it's online.

I only bid based on what I can see.
