When you first started buying storage units, how much cash did you have to work with?

Any rags to riches stories?

When I first started I never carried that much cash. It was my way of keeping myself from getting caught up in the moment and excitement of the auction and overpaying. Now I carry a bit more but I still keep it to a minimum for the same reason.

I started with about $400 of discretionary funds. In the beginning, Storage auctions were a fun way to make some extra money. Wasn't even two months before it became a full time job.

I think when we started we had about $1200 in cash that we had squirreled away.

I heard that if you want to become a millionaire in this business, start out with 10 million and stop when you get down to one million left........ :72:

my first auction and purchase  was on a whim at a storage facility i was storing things at
my bankroll was whatever i happened to have in my pocket , im fairly sure it was under 100 and may have been under 50
first room was $30-40 or so and it turned out to be owned by someone i went to high school with
had a great time going through it although i dont think it was too big a money maker

The first time I went to an auction I had $1000 on me. I learned that day that if I wanted a good unit that was not enough. The day I finally bought my first unit I had $2500 with me. My unit cost me $1100 plus a $100 cleaning deposit.
