Yep, I found out from another regular that one of the auctions we attended recently  was actually a glorified garage sale for the facility owners buddies to fill units full of stuff they were trying to get rid of and just for fun see how much they could make at auction. It sure beats having to run your own garage/yard sale and have a bunch of strangers at your house when you can just ask your friend who owns a storage facility to let you put your garbage and yard sale stuff in an empty unit and put it up for auction.

I didnt say he takes anything, I said use your best judgement on this. Its the Storage companys stuff to do with what they want! They can give it away if they want. They auction to recoup losses. If the owner wants the stuff for himself he can do with what he pleases. Just like a pawn shop you dont pay its there stuff to do as they please.

My apologies if I misinterpreted what you had written.  To me it read like he was taking stuff from units that he wanted then auction off the remnants. 

I was under the understanding that the contents of the locker had to be auctioned off and that the contents are not the owner of the storage units property.  The contents belong to the original owner until the start of the auction, then they go to the highest bidder.  I dont beleieve the storage facility owner can do as he pleases with the contents of the unit (give it away, or pilfer what he wants).  Someone correct me if I am wrong...

Thats what I had thought as well.  The auctioneer cutting the lock was the last possible second that the owner could catch up on payments.  I though it was ALL part of a legal process.  I believe I heard that from the guy that has all of the youtube videos.  Could be 100% wrong, but it would make sense.

  If I remember correctly as told to Me once , in New Hampshire a Locker Facility owner can , after the public notices , hold a Public OR Private Auction , and this site seems to confirm that .

According to this provsion.
"451-C:6 Sale. � If any of the rent, charges, fees, or expenses referred to in this chapter shall remain unpaid for 30 days, and after complying with the provisions of RSA 451-C:4 and RSA 451-C:5, the owner may sell such personal property at a private or public sale, and the proceeds shall first be applied to satisfy such rent, charges, fees, or expenses. Proceeds remaining after the sale and payment of rent, charges, fees, or expenses to the owner shall then be paid to any lienholders of record, as their interests may appear, with any remaining proceeds to be paid to the occupant. "

I would come to the conclusion that it HAS to be sold at auction in order to allow the proceeds to be paid to the occupant.  If the owner decides to keep it then the last sentence wouldn't be fulfilled..  Maybe I am reading to much into it.

The ones that really stand a chance to really pull off a good pay day from the shows is the Auctioneer.

This is not to say that people should jump on the bandwagon and start how to learn and get the licenses to become an auctioneer either. If you do try to go that route NOW, good luck on getting in on the storage auctions as an auctioneer anytime soon. Most of the auctioneers in my area, that do storage auctions, have been auctioneers for years, decades. They built up their client list slowly to include storage auctions.

Hint hint! Didnt say he didnt take anything from the units. Now a days the units are pilfered. Was at an auction Saturday and the auctioner and other buyer were taking about how a couple of  crooked auctioner were taking from units. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.
