Feast or famine~anybody wanna join us next Weds???

I tell ya Tucson is a tough market.  We won't have any auctions for weeks then come the second week of the month....Pow! right between the eyes!
Monday~relatively easy.  Only 3 auctions with two being a caravan.  Don will hit them as I've got prior obligations.
Tuesday~Day one of a large caravan.  There is usually another auctioneer doing a separate caravan on this day but instead he is going to do it.......
Wednesday~3 separate, large caravans.  Ugh....we usually just split up and hit the two that are normally going on.....now??? Pick and pray we chose wisely.
Thursday~Day two for one of the caravans.  Hopefully we'll already have a unit or two but if not.....hopefully the majority of the 'regulars' got theirs yesterday.
Friday~spent recovering and hopefully sorting and selling!!

The first auctions of our new year will be tomorrow with an auctioneer I met last month.  Funny, Don was watching reruns of Auction Hunters and lo and behold......there was our auctioneer.  He is based out of Phoenix, but occasionally does auctions in CA and NV.  Kinda funny to see one of our own on the small screen.  No.....I won't be starstruck~ 8)

So feast or famine......seems to be the norm 'round here.
Is it that way where you are or are you a bit more balanced?

Metro Atlanta area has usually 30-50 auctions each week the first 2 weeks of the month then the last 2 weeks of the month are slammed with over 100 auctions each week!! Can't say we have a shortage of auctions here in Atlanta. But the first 2 weeks of the month are very crowded. The last 2 weeks of the month if you find the right auction to go to there won't be as much competition the crowds get thinned out.

Sounds an awful lot like what happens in Phoenix.  Suppose one of these 'slow' days I'll have to make the trek north to see just what a big city auction atmosphere is like~

How far of a drive is it for you?

I'm sure I miss a number of auctions.  Though I have all that I found listed in the local paper...not including SC side of the river.  80% of my auctions are in a 2 week window.  Starts this friday with U-haul, then small one on 10th, caravan on 12th, and ton on the 16th.  On 16th I have a 2 facility caravan at 9:30 with almost 60 units in paper, or can jump to a small single place at 10:30.  Then a 3 facility caravan that evening at 4pm.  Then it's all quiet again till end of month on the 26th with 2 different facilities.

My plan is to check out the 9:30 Metro auction on 16th and prob jump ship to the 10:30 small one, then back to Metro.  Metro is w/ an auctioneer and tax.  So that is 7% tax and 10% BP.  Never been to Metro as they canceled last auction.

About 120 miles.  Biggest problem is two girls in two different schools and the babysitter (Grandma) is getting up there in years, so hate to burden her.

Thinking about sending Don up with another guy who we often 'hang' with at the auctions.  He has a huge trailer and is always asking us to go in together on units......perhaps the two of them can work something out.  That or wait until summer and take a family trip~ 8)

That sounds about like myself and Atlanta.  While we have a local that buys 90% of his units in Atlanta I've yet to hit any.  One of my auction buddies went over Thanksgiven and said the prices were actually lower there then our area.  Don't know if that was due to most people being out of town and not at auction or what.

I have started to look for auctions in towns and cities I may be heading to for work or the kids.  Prob not buy a unit in those situations but would be good recon on crowds / prices.
