Units that tell a story

Have you ever bought a unit that told a story? Perhaps you found something in the unit that was a clue to why they were having financial difficulty.

One unit we bought we seen why the people had so much problems with money.  All high end bikes, computer equipment, and just stuff in general that when you looked at what he did for a living there was no way he could afford it.  Finally he went from job to job but mastered none.

I bought a unit yesterday that had a nice three piece leather sofa set, bed, dresser and misc. items. One of the first things we went through contained a Brillo pad that had been shredded. (For those of you who don't know, crack addicts use copper Brillo as a filter in their glass pipes.) These people probably started using crack, lost their jobs and then eventually lost their home. Put their stuff into storage and eventually lost everything.

I have found two bongs and one crack pipe, so those stories just told themselves.

Sometimes I feel bad when I come across a lot of personal items.  I try to get them back but it takes a couple of days to process everything or sometimes I concentrate on the big stuff and it is weeks.  Pictures do tell a thousand words and some of those stories are sad.

Part of the fun for me is piecing together the story behind the loss of the unit. I guess I'm just sick that way. I've found death certificates, divorce decrees, very expensive clothing along with Burger King uniforms.. They all tell a story to me, some are obvious, some are speculation.. I think that every unit tells a story, even down to the way it's packed..

Lots of them one in May, the Woman lost her job as a Nurse for charging time she did not work the Man was laid off from his mechanics job.  Found power bills over $6K, student loans that they had not made payment one on even when working her wages were being garnished.  They were evicted and homeless.  Over a hundred pairs of shoes in the locker mostly expensive sports shoes but all moldy or worn out.  Looked like even when they had money they did not pay bills for anything.  The story they did not pay any bills so why would they pay their locker rent.
I find eviction notices in most every locker sometimes many of them.  Always months behind on rent.  Most of them are on Welfare and most of the lockers have either Bongs or crack pipes in them.  Drugs are one of the biggest reasons near as I can tell.

Sounds like it might be time to go to different storage properties. :)
