I know we talk alot about Storage Wars and Auction Hunters, but there is a less famous guy out there on the internet selling books about the storage auction business and telling stories and giving advise on YouTube. Any of you buy the books or a membership to his blog? Do you think it's worth while?

Hey Glendon, are you on here?

I got his book, its a good book all in all. Specially catered to those who only got a spark of interest because of the shows. Some of the info in his book is what I feel is common sense, some things I already knew. However I did learn a few things, some of those things I put to practice now. Was planning on getting his garage sale book as well, just have not done it as of yet. However I do not attend his University Pod Cast he is doing for storages. That I would think is not worth the money, but then again you never know till you try. I however will pass on the Uni.

He has a lot of great videos!  He has a lot of information and insight on running a business that apply to businesses other than just storage auctions.  Lot's of common sense ideas and straight talk.  He never says the storage auction business is easy....he stresses over and over that this will probably be the hardest work most of you have ever done.  He also touches on staying out of debt!  Well worth watching his youtube videos, and the price is right!  Never have bought any of his info though.

Some of the videos are quite entertaining but, some of the advise shows his limited thinking. I think the videos can be a good educational tool for a new person in this business; however, there is plenty of other free content out there. Take this forum for example.

Oh yeah. he is an online marketer and book writer now. He is making some serious cash though. You would think with all that money he would spend some of it on a quality website....the current one really looks unprofessional. Or should I say ghetto.

Don't get me wrong I watch Glendons videos, I think he's a good speaker, has some interesting storeis and even some good tips however for the most part it's all common sense type stuff and he seems to have more stories about people, interesting units, and experiences more so than actually offering advice. He does give some great tips on using craigslist, etc, etc, etc.

Most of his tips and advice are in the book. But still, for someone who has taken the time to actually research, or has been in the business as resell or a storage auction goer, its mostly common sense. Not all, but a good amount of it.

That makes a lot of sense.

That's like saying if you can't afford to lose the money, don't go to a casino.

The key to making money in this business, post storage auction reality shows, is getting off the beaten path and being patient and waiting for the right unit to come along. Buying in volume also helps.

I think your odds are actually better at the casino these days.

I also think that's a great quote but it's not Glendons. There's a song by Young Jeezy and Lil Wayne called scared money and talks about how "scared money dont make no money" although I imagine the phrase was around even before that since rap steals and doesn't do anything origional.

I purchased his book, my review is:

Good information for anyone who has not done any prior research on the storage auction industry. My main concern with the book is he gives a lot of "teaser" information about running the business. He tells you he is going to go into "detail" but never does. I think it is just a marketing ploy to hook people into purchasing more of his products. It seems his method is to get people to by his book, offer a little information, buy more books, get a little more information, join his podcasts, get a little more information, sign up for his Storage Auction Universtiy get a little more information, etc, etc. I think it's a great marketing strategy for him, but as far as buying a comprehensive guidebook about the storage auction business, this book does not deliver.

Ahh ok, well I dont listen to Jeezy or lil Wayne. Nothing against Young Jeezy, I like some of his songs. But I really cant stand Lil Wayne, never really have.

But still really love the quote. Where ever the heck it came from.

"Scared money don't (doesn't) make money"

It is a saying that has been in the Afro-American culture and recycled for many many years.

-------------------------
I have watched all of Glendon's videos and find them interesting and funny. I also have his e-book. There are a few items that he teaches you that are good bits of advice in the book. There are a lot of grammatical and spelling errors, but whatever.

If you just watch all the videos, you will get probably 79% of the book contents.
