So how do you get rid of the small or common stuff you accumulate? Flea market? Garage sale? Donation?

I mean it all depends. I do have an Amazon account that I use when I find bulk items to unload fast. I know their % is pretty high but it is a good tool to unload bulk items. Your common household items I do donate a lot of. During the warmer months I do hold pretty big tag sales every once in awhile to unload a lot of the common items as well.

8 lockers in one day? Damn, do you hire a moving company? LOL

I'm telling you I bought 8 the other day when it was about 10 degrees out. Even tho our rooms are all inside its just as cold in there. I will think twice about buying that many in that cold again. I'm still frozen.

So what's hot in the New York resale market? Antiques, modern furniture?

Modern furniture is always in. I'm not the furniture type. Takes up way to much room to store and you have to sit on it for awhile. I like the "no brainers" see it buy it and sell it. Quick cash.

Yeah, I can see how that would effect the bidding.

Don't forget that newbs think every unit is supposed to go for $3K.

It's interesting to hear how people in other locations handle their business. Here in Texas, we have plenty of room to spread out. For the most part, storage facilities are big and flat. You might see a 3 story facility in the downtown area of a major city if you're lucky. Parking and loading are usually never an issue. Hearing stories about the NY auction scene makes you appreciate how convenient it is to back you're truck up to the unit!

This is a pretty cool thread!   8)

So, what's the coolest thing you think you've ever found in a storage unit?

What's the most you've ever made on a single locker.......any of those 40-50k lockers that we all hear rumors about?

Do you still move most of the stuff yourselves or do you hire a bunch of guys to give you a hand?

Thanks!

His cousin works for him cleaning out the units. You'd know that if you watched the show!  :P

The interaction between you and your cousin is hilarious. In the episode where you guys are playing rockem sockem robots. whose idea was it for your cousin to wear boxing shorts, his or the producer? For that matter does the producer direct the show any way? I would have to assume yes due to the high cost of filming.

LOL........it's a show!  Just wondered if they might have some guys that come help them out to get the bulk out or if they still move everything by themselves.........plus, SOME of us are out buying and selling and making money and can't watch unlimited amounts of reality tv......we're busy dealing with our own reality!   ;)

BTW.....got a bunch recorded but only had time to watch one so far.....I'll get to it....been very busy lately!

I still unload every room. There is no magic clean up crew that comes in. I might hire a few guys here and there to help me but I pretty much do all the grunt work. NYC is deff a different animal when it comes to auction buying. We rarely have an outside facility. Most are 8-9 floor buldings packed to the ceiling.
