 You win the bis on a locker with old dead paint or used motor oil or deisel/gasoline. You are now the proud owner of somebody else's problem, or are you? 

Yea Id imagine you are responsible for disposing of it properly or atleast thats what I have always done with paints and such..

Everything in the unit (good or bad) is now your problem.  Most places have a recycle center that will take old paint, and such.  Motor oil is easy to get rid of - just hit any autoparts store.

It's some of the industrial thinners and such that can be tricky.  Or at least they are since I just got 4 containers of this stuff.  Looks to be new so will try and sell first.  If not will be calling around to see what I need to do.  Stuff is very flammable.

You own everything in the locker and it is your job to clear it out. There will be dump fees as well as the price of the locker. Keep that in mind while bidding.

OK, I'll be helpful to the original poster and add that he might want to also consider knowing about:

1) deposits
2) sales tax

Yes, and I'd LIKE to forget it altogether. So far I haven't bought one at a premium auction. When a lkr goes for $1k that's a heavy $100 to tack on to it. So far the only auctioneer who is doing that is doing it at Extra Space. If it's a dynamite lkr it wouldn't be a problem though. If anything that premium might make me take closer looks than I sometimes do.

Most of the auctions in my area are done by the facility itself. Only have two auctioneers that do storage auctions in my area. One of them charges 10% the other does not charge. But the one that does charge the 10% I have found does the better facilities, always nice stuff in those lockers.
