The PayPal/eBay connection

Does anyone know the ownership connection between these two ?  This is something I never looked up.

In October 2002, PayPal was acquired by eBay for US $1.5 billion in stock. It was originally owned by an entrepreneur named Elon Musk.

That's why ebay forces you to accept paypal for payments extra revenue for them. they get to charge the listing fees and any additional features you choose, the final value fees and then collect fees onthe payment as well
