I have been going to storage auctions for a few years and stop for a while, Just started back about a year ago and have only bought two units in that time because I stopped burning up good gas just to look at useless units selling for far more than they are worth so I stay to places local to me.

I believe a lot of the good units now day's are never seen by the people going to the auctions.

About 6 months ago went to one that had 6 units, We asked at the desk when we got there and they confirmed that there was 6 units. There were two men in the office who said they were going to cut the locks and would be right back, When they returned  there was now only 3 units up for bids.
????????

could have a lot to do with what something is worth and if the seller even knows what they have and the contacts to sell it.

I deal in remote control products and a radio system that cost $500.00 5 years ago might be worth $25.00 now and then there are some gas engines that sold for $500.00 5 years ago still worth $300.00 now.

eBay / Re: I hate fees!

I have a Ebay account that is about 10 years old, only used it to buy stuff and decided a couple weeks ago to sell some stuff there.

I sell RC planes products that sell from $10.00 to $600.00.

I listed some RC engines and made my first sell for $365.00, Took the buyer 4  days to send funds and I was away when he sent it, The next day he filed for buyers protection, I emailed him and said I would refund his money, did not want a unhappy customer.

Long story   he leaves me bad feed back that he never received the Item,  but he got his refund that day.

Emailed Ebay about the trader rating but they did nothing, So my first sell on Ebay I got a bad trader rating and as of right now have sold about $660.00 and my fees are $82.00.

So my Ebay selling did not last long LOL.

Hi Drew
You will see where I posted about this in another thread.

If you do it try to asked why  they cut the locks the day before the auction.

As most people know now it is legal for storage companies in Georgia to do there own auctions and not use a license auction company.

There is a lot of things that go on with these auctions behind the scene.

The only way I think they should be legal is for the original lock to be cut at the time of the auction.

I have fooled around with the auction off and on for about three years and seen most of the things that happen.

Went to one and got there a little early along with about 3 other people, Was advertised to have 8 units, Asked if there was still eight units and was told yeas.

The two people in the office said they had to go and cut the locks and told us we had to wait outside the office and could not go with them, When they got back there were only 5 units up for auction. ??????

And then there are the managers that have there own buying team that gets to look at all the unit’s the day before the auction. And yes I know this for a fact.

I was at one auction that before the door was fully open someone bided $2,000.00, Everybody else just walked away. That was no auction.

Then there is the storage companies that say vehicle are not included with the storage unit that they deal with them in a different way. ?????

So if you are new to this be careful what you step into.

Went to 8 yesterday that had from 5 to 8 units each, Was at least 25 people at each one.

Junk units went for $400.00 plus and good units went for $1,000.00 plus, Just don't see it being there.

Yep, I am sure it will bring a lot of new people out, But as alway's it will not last long.

I love to hear the old timers talking to each other at some of the Auctions, There were two talking one day about washer and dryers, Was pretty loud in the converstion about not getting but $20.00 to $30.00 for them, The 2nd unit to auction only had a washer and dryer in it and one of them paid $150.00 for it, So much for only getting $20.00 to $30.00 for them. LOL

Hey everyone. Im new to storage auctions. Whats the best way to get started?

I am new at it also, started last week hust testing the water a ilttle to see what is up with this, So far have not seen much to it unless you want to do flea makets or have sone type of store to sell in.

Go to google and type in Storage unit auctions and you will find most of what you need.

Found a sire here in the Atlanta area that Emails you a weekly report on the auctions for about $4.00 a week.

After you hit a few of them you can get there dates and times from the Storage places you go to.

Another way is get out the phone book and make calls and ask for there date and times, They want as many as can to come to them so most are very helpfull in giving out the information.
