Here in Tampa they don't take the guns...they like using the cases or the odd 22 to try and drive the price up.

2 units went up for auction by the same guy and it was announced that the facility manager had to be present to confiscate any guns that were hidden in any of the boxes.  The guy whose unit it was was convicted of murdering his wife and the police never found the gun.  The police could not get a search warrant on the units for whatever reason and 6 revolvers were found and turned over to the police for ballistic testing and if the guns were clean would be returned to the winning bidder. 

I have seen 2 bidders get very hot at one another...so much so that the auctioneer threatened to ban both of them from further auctions.  1 of the bidders was making snide comments at the other one and the great face off happened with lots of swearing   .
