Thanks for the advise. I'm def thinking no guys no glory. When I say break even what I mean that if I can see about $200 showing, I don't want to go over, but I have $, and I need to spend it to make $.

So nothing great in unit. My goal is to break even, and so I did. I'm keeping a couple of paintings or going to garage sale them. Some more garage sale stuff like wires, stereo speakers, luggage. A few e-bay items. All the trash fit into our curbside pick up, so no dumb fee's and the storage facility was only about 3 miles away so no gas wasted. Went to another auction today. Was out bid on a unit, I was willing to go to 200, went for 220 I think. But still have $ in my pocket for some big auctions coming up on 10/15 and 10/17. Also, was told by someone that works in one of the facilities I go to that one of the units going up will have dirt bikes in it. Yippie! we will see if anyone notices, as he told me where it was and that may not be able to see them from the front. We will see...

General Storage Auction Talk / Strange saturday crowd, but got first one!
« on: September 24, 2011, 10:50:40 AM »
There was only 3 people 9am on sat morning! It was silent bid, got one for $40. Had some bike parts, car rims and electronics! Today was my 8th and I have never seen such a small crowd for a sat. At the next one and it will be at least 50 people, but I'm in the buying mood if they are a decent price.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: Should I buy just to buy?

Went to another one Saturday, nothing too exciting and I don't have any remorse about not buying and not winning a bid. I bid on two. I think I've been to enough to know what I'm looking for, going with my gut and sticking to my limits. There are two this weekend and a caravan in a big city I live about 45 minutes from later this month. In the mean time I checked out my local flea market scene. I guess I'll buy when the time is right:) Also, out of the six I've attended I see about four of the same people, the rest are always different...I guess it's kinda cool that the other people who do this all the time are starting to talk to me and say hi.

There are a bunch of auctions coming up in the next few weeks, so, hopefully I'll get one. I think I just have to trust my instincts more. I won't get anywhere by sitting on the side lines, but I think I just have to be smart about it.

New to Storage Auctions? / Should I buy just to buy?

So I have attended five auctions...i've bid on four units. I have yet to win one. All together I have seen about 25 or so lockers, and I only bid on one's I like. I have seed money, but refuse to go past my limit...$500 until I get more experience. I only am bidding on the units I see and like, and think I can turn a profit. There are units that go for much less. The four I lost I was out bid on all of them. So my question is should I buy one, even if I don't like it or see value? Or should I hold off and think the right one will come...???
I really wanna get my feet wet!
