Stories about Storage Auctions / Saturday auction failure
« on: November 05, 2011, 02:37:27 PM »
Went to an auction this morning.   The public notice was quite detailed to say the least.  That should have been my first impression of just staying home, but I went anyway.  First locker went kinda high the second was the bets buy of the day at 150 dollars.  After that it was all staged.  Barbie dolls up front and clean in their boxes, that were banged up.  3 yes, 3 lockers with visible safes.  There were only 7 lockers for sale and only 5 of the 7 were in the notice....  Quite the sketch joint in my eyes, some lady was dropping 600-800 dollars on lockers that I wouldn't go over 250 on.  Hopefully it will shut them down on future runs.

eBay / anyone have an ebay store?
« on: September 11, 2011, 06:22:20 PM »
I am wondering at which point it becomes more effiecient to pay for a store than to pay listing fees for 50+ items every month??  Is there a logical transfer point?

General Storage Auction Talk / At what point do you throw it away???
« on: September 08, 2011, 09:08:57 PM »
I now have a house full of things, a 7.5 x 10 and a 10 x10 full of locker contents.  Most of it has "some" value to someone somewhere.  Most of it also is valued at less than5 dollars per piece, if that much.  At what point do you just start donating/throwing things away in order to keep the more valuable items in the rotation.  I am spending about 100 bucks per month on storage fees, which wouldn't matter if the products were turning over.

How do you handle your overstock???

The Lounge / "CASH FOR GOLD"
« on: September 05, 2011, 09:54:01 PM »
Anyone in this market??  I have a couple of regulars at the auciton the buy gold to resell it.  Sounds like an interesting venture to go along with this stuff.  Desperate people will sell their things to get some extra cash, and those of us with the extra cash can probably make a little money.

Why in the hell would a man or woman with 1/4 of a brain leave any form of gold or silver in a storage unit????  I think I am a fairly intelligent guy, and I can't for the life of me figure out who is that foolish.  EVERYONE in the world has enough room to store those small items.

Trying to offload some clothing, I know there are some people in the atlanta area, but I have lost their information.  If anyone knows of someone please post.

General Storage Auction Talk / Quickest way to sell new books.
« on: August 22, 2011, 08:37:57 PM »
Most are kids books, but they are all brand new.  Lady was starting a tutoring school and it must have fallen apart.  I just want to move them for a few bucks each quick.  any outlets that can help me there besides the normal amazon/ebay sources?

General Storage Auction Talk / where do you store your products??
« on: August 20, 2011, 11:39:30 AM »
Picked up a couple of units the last couple of weeks and I am having a hard time storing the goods.  I have a 7.5x10 food locker of my own, but that was nearly filled up with the first unit I purchased down here.
My wife isn't going to let me use the house, outside of snapping pictures.  The garage has my car in it.

Anyone have issues like this??  If so what did you do to render them, additional storage lockers?  a warehouse space maybe?

The Treasure Chest / found a teachers unit on monday
« on: August 19, 2011, 12:37:27 PM »
looked like a whole lot of flea market stuff from the outside, which I like.  Once I pulled out some boxes i noticed about 40 new Chico's belts, and other Chico's jewelry and clothing. Paid 225 for the locker and will double that just with the new clothes.  Not taking into account all of the other stuff that I actually purchased the locker for.

Stories about Storage Auctions / 6 units for one price
« on: August 01, 2011, 02:42:01 PM »
Has anyone come across that many units all put up for one bid?  They were FULL rooms, with really good stuff.  They all went for 4grand.  All were 5x10-5x15 rooms on 2 separate floors.  The aucitoneer said it was the most he has auctioned off at any one time, all belonging to the same person.  We also had 4 sets of 2 locker bids.  Interesting day.

New to Storage Auctions? / to buy a truck or not???
« on: July 25, 2011, 07:06:38 PM »
I live in a sub-division.  1 car garage where my princess takes up most of the space.    We have my wifes mariner in the driveway and my dd which is a 03 jetta also in the driveway.  My dilemma is do I purchase a truck i.e. f250, silverado 2500 or something in that size range, and piss my wife off with the expenditure.  Or do I purchase a 4x8 trailer and set up the mariner to do some hauls???  I figure I could sell the jetta for 4k or so and put that on a truck but I would still need a vehicle to drive to my day job.  any ideas would be great.  I am very new, been to a few auctions but haven't made a purchase as of yet.

Up in the Braselton area, off of I85.  I am very new to storage auctions and have a lot of questions to ask.  I will probably be driving from metro Atlanta, to Athens, up into the Greenville SC area.
My normal job is as a chef at a local restaurant and I will be doing this to help pique my curiosity and to make a little extra money for my coming baby.
