What is this thing? I haven't clicked on it but it keeps showing facebook, twitter etc. When that happens the page locks up and I have to refresh. I have been on here for 15 minutes and have had to refresh 4 times. Getting very irritated. 

I didn't acutely change locations but I have decided to rearrange everything. How often do those of you that have a store completely change everything? I was just thinking that maybe old customers would see pieces I have had for awhile if I made it all different. I change areas quite often as pieces leave but I haven't done this big of a change since I opened. I am hoping that it helps in sales during this slow time of the year. 

So I bought a unit several months ago and there was this stupid poster in it. It has been laying around here in my way and I keep moving it not sure where to put it. It's a poster for a reunion concert for Cream from London in 2007. Psychedelic crazy crap in my opinion and I have never heard of the band. I know old posters can be worth alot of money but this one doesn't fit into that category. Anyway I decide to look it up and see if it has any value before I throw it away. To my surprise the dang thing is worth somewhere around $500.00. They only made 250 that are signed by the designer and have an embossed logo. Guess this is one for e-bay. You just never know what you have until you look into it. Glad I didn't just throw it away.

I'm thinking about running a family friends Estate Sale. I will be going to see what is there tomorrow. If I do this it will be huge. This is a home and business. One down town Santa Barbara city block. I am thinking I will probably have to split it into two weekends. It will be lots of work but also a potential for a huge profit. Will know more tomorrow. Any thoughts or ideas would be great.

The door rolls up. You get that breathless heart racing feeling. What is it that is behind that door?

For me it is a really great furniture piece. Mid century modern or antique. Preferably a hutch or buffet.

I have yet to find a unit where the sky is the limit. I usually have the money with me to buy what ever I want but I tend to be very cautious.

   

I have been told by the old timers may times that if you do this long enough you will eventually find an Urn. Well this is the story of my first one.
The unit was a huge 10X30 full of stuff. It was a great unit. As we are going through it in a box full of sea shells we find Dr Paul. Ugh... I set him on my desk for the time being and say I will get back to this problem later. I totally believe in karma so throwing him out is not an option.
Several days later while going through the last of the boxes that are all paperwork I come across a folder marked will. Turns out Dr Paul has the deed to his family plot in Tennessee.
Hum... I call the cemetary and find out that he has paid for everything including his headstone that is already set. The lady asks me to send him to her and she will make sure he goes into his plot. She also asked me to write a letter telling how he came to me as no one was ever going to believe her story. Dr Paul is now resting peacfully in his rightful place. Now how come his son who owned the unit couldn't have taken care of this? Oh well I feel good about taking the time and being respectful even though I never knew this person. Good Karma. 

Just wondering if other areas in the country are like mine. Seems like units with furniture go pretty cheap while the same size unit full of boxes goes really high. I am not complaining as I have a store and like the furniture with a few boxes of stuff. Usually I can scoop for around 300.00. I like to bid on what I can see and feel that the stuff contained in the boxes is my profit. This has worked out for me.   
There are three regulars (all were doing this before I got involved) that will bid a box unit to well over 1000.00 on a regular basis. I know they sell at the swap-meet but are those units really worth that much money? I have never had the courage to bid that much on something I can't see. I guess I am not that much of a gambler.
Just wondering what kind of trends you guys see in your area.
