Other Forms of Selling / I can't stand selling on facebook anymore
« on: August 25, 2014, 05:24:06 PM »
Facebook has helped me sell alot of items, but it has also caused me a lot of grief and headaches and wasted time with the flakes, cheapskates and the drama loving idiots out there. Anyway I am seriously thinking of abandoning facebook all together both for sellling and even my personal facebook profile.  I would love to use craigslist more, but unfortunately there is not really a craigslist site that covers my local area. I do use eBay but there are those items that are either to big/heavy or to inexpensive to hassle with listing and shipping. I have been thinking of creating my own local site to sell items and promote it with twitter and ads in the local classified paper(expensive) here that has a large following. On Facebook, I liked that people would be exposed to my items when they were not necessarily looking for that particular item, so in that way facebook helped, but it is also a timing thing if a person is looking for something you have specifically, good luck for them to find it if they did not get on the group page within an hour or so of posting it.

My question is: Is there another effective method any of you have discovered to getting you items for sale exposed to locals in your area?

Sorry to go on so long :73:

Vehicles at Storage Auctions / Not technically a storage auction
« on: August 21, 2014, 04:53:32 PM »
Has anyone ever bought a vehicle at a lien sale from a towing company? Car got towed, owner never paid fess type of thing. What was the experience like? Were there a lot of bidders? Do the cars go for a decent (ie cheap) price or do people spend crazy money. I guess I am more interested in smaller mom and pop towing outfits doing this every once in a while, not the larger companies in LA and such that auction off several cars a week. Let me know if any of you have any experiences to share. Thanks in advance.

The Lounge / Good lenders for purchasing a self storage facility.
« on: December 12, 2013, 01:53:03 PM »
This is random but kind of related. Anyone know of any reputable lenders that deal specifically with loans for self storage facilities. Been thinking for a while about investing in the business. Want to compare different lenders and what they offer. Looking to see what LTV they require, what if any prepayment penalties. How easy they are to work with. etc. Any ideas suggestions are appreciated.

I like the end of the article where the people are saying how much they are making. What a waste of time.

Garage Sales / How much traffic do you get to your yard/garage sales?
« on: October 21, 2013, 11:10:44 AM »
Just curious what other people see, from my guestimate I get about 200-300 people come through my sale on a Saturday. I have also found sometimes it is not as much about what you have as about how many people you can get to come through. If 200 people spend $5 thats a grand.  8)

Story isn't that exciting, but it was posted as "News", My only comment is I am glad I have never been to a storage auction with 300-400 people in attendance, what a nightmare.  :-\

I thought this was pretty humurous, don't know if it qualifies as actual news.

Welcome to the Online Storage Auctions Forum / New to the forums
« on: September 26, 2013, 12:20:43 PM »
HI, just registered today, thought I would introduce myself. I have been attending storage auctions and bidding on units in my spare time for about a year now, so I am still relatively new. I find the shows interesting but unrealistic and they don't show the ugly side of the business - cleaning out the units and selling the stuff. Anywya I wanted to do this long before the shows even existed, but the wife was not up for it, until she saw the show on Netflix. So I guess I do have to say I started because of the show although I don't like to admit it. ;) I look forward to sharing some of my experiences and hearing more of yours. Happy Hunting!
