Interesting idea, and seems to be kicking off.  The more competition, the more choices there is for everyone.  I'ts another option, which is good.  Any word on Georgia yet?

Have never gone in the snow, but here when its rainy out the crowds are the same if not more! Everyone thinks what you are thinking that maybe no one will come out because of the weather! Usually not true!

I can attest to this as well.  Every time it rains I see the biggest crowds.

People really seem bugged about crowds these days.  The only way a small crowd will happen is if there's a good bit of auctions going on sadly.

I see what you're saying about prices, but seeing as how people living in those "slave houses" are paying next to nothing or nothing at all, they're able to buy a ton of great stuff for themselves.  A ton of the upper scale areas will store the dumbest **** for the most ridiculous price.  I see this **** all the time in upper scale regions in GA.  People tend to pay those high prices to save memories rather than goods(pricey) a lot of the times.

Sort of I guess.  You pay weekly, at 65 a week.(Pretty steep by flea standards)  But hell I market great furniture that I know will sell quick there.  I don't really make much profit, but it let's me clear my mind and focus on the better items I get from auctions.

The antique part where they sell your furniture is the real deal though, as it's only 120 a month.  Only time I have to show up is to collect money and swap in new furniture/china sets etc.

Forgot to mention that I use indoor flea maekets so that way I can just keep everything there and don't have to pack up.  Mine has an antique mall in there that will also let you sell your furniture in there 7 days a week without you having to be there.(They take a small percentage)  So it's pretty gravy.

Flea market isn't much money but it's great at rotating my inventory and letting me store my stuff for some profit.

I actually just use flea market as storage.  With the selling of the items, it doesn't cost a thing.  If you sell furniture/big pieces flea markets will sometimes give a two or three for the price of one deal.  That way my inventory on everything keeps moving.

I think everyone should do some research.  Obviously don't bid on a unit that's supposed to be something.  Look for cues and traces that match your research. Not hard to turn people up through some quick searches.  Some notices even give out where people live and cursory inspections.

Some auctioneers/property managers a lot of times forget to mention that the unit you just won was one of a couple/several by a tenant.  Woops!  Knowing small things like that can help a lot on how you budget for all their units rather than just one piece.

Time management is important in this business though.  If you got time do it.  But between all the logistics of buying/moving/selling, might be hard!

It's amazing how fast you can learn about people these days though.

Good way to get around that is expand ur territory.

You got it.  People also hold tons of certain precepts & prejudices about areas as well.  I can't tell you the amount of times I hear people talk about not going here or there.  I love it though!

250-500

Some days the crowd is just way to big and the prices go high fast.  If you're in Atlanta Smyrna can be a fing joke.  Shows have had an effect, but going to only 1 or two auctions a week wont cut it.  New people never last long anyways.

Flea Markets / Re: How do you price clothing at flea markets?
« on: August 19, 2011, 10:20:05 PM »
$1 a piece.  If it's brand new or whatever I just sell online/keep.  Flea markets are just to full of clothes for people to really care unless your booth is dedicated to that and fashion.

yea lz auctioneers tried it but it didn't work out I guess.  last tweet was 8/6 and they have had plenty of runs since then.

Yep.  I've scored great units with lz.  I love the amount of time they give to clean units out as well.

lol interesting knowing about those keys!

Yea one does this in Atlanta.  Its cool i guess, but sometimes they wait way late on notifying people of cancellations.

Just call out a number.  From that point on the auctioneer will look your way every time a bid is thrown up.  Either nod or motion my hand

Congrats.  Nice pick up.  How long did they give you to clean unit though?
