Reality Shows about Storage Auctions / Re: Auction Hunters is FAKE!!!
« on: April 21, 2011, 11:25:07 AM »
Both shows include staged units in my opinion. Information was posted on the Storage Wars forum several months ago that really called one of their units into question.

And your opinion are based upon what? That it is on tv, and that they made a show from it?
COPS are on tv, thats not fake.

I know someone who again know Don, and Don who is the man behind this show would not accept fake units. Have they been doing something to the units? maybe, they have from what i know started to block out names on boxes and clothing. This is to protect a theird party who does not wnat their name on tv. This is pretty commen in the tv world.

Auction hunters am i not a big fan of, it shows to much the upside of the business.
Storage wars i think is a good show, based on genuine finds. Someone mention that one locker of toys was from an outside collection and used as a staged thing. Well if your friend know this for a fact, why don't you run down to the closest PD and file charges against the show for fruad??

Yes. And the wife has agreed to sell it.
So it is now for sale. From what i can see on craigslist they sell for between 180 and 300 dollars. Think i will ask around 275 for it to start off with.

Yep i agree.

To me it is the game, how much can i gain and have in profit. And i always try to have the highest profit possible.

On that unit i did not have any cost at all. so 0 dollar can become a good profit, if i can talk my wife into selling it. lol

Stories about Storage Auctions / Free locker
« on: April 20, 2011, 04:19:59 PM »
A couple of weeks back, i got two lockers for free.
The locker that had most stuff in it took me one trip to the dump.

But i sold a bedroom suit to a fellow auctioneer of mine who lives in missouri. He bought it for 125.00
I still have things to sell from this locker. So i expect maybe another 100 bucks from that unit. It all depnds on what i can get for the 90 AC filters from merryweather foam in florida brings in.

But in the second locker there was only one item, and it was facing the wall, so all you could see when bidding was the backside. Well after i got the unit i turned it around, and the link below show you what i got for free. I think they call this, beeing at the right place at the right time.  I have not decided if i am selling it or not, as my wife wants to keep it. lol.

Ok today was a ****ty day.

It was 96 degrees and i picked the wrong clothing. Jeans does not go well with that heat.

Well then it was the lockers, or the lack of lockers. Most was paid off, the one place that had 43 units cancelled for the 3rd time in a row. Something fishy going on there.

The last locker of the day i won, it was more like " i don't want to go home empty handed locker" so i bid it up to 35 dollars and got it.
I will most likely double my money on it. It had a ok older desk in it that i like, think i am keeping that to my self.  The reason it did not go higher was becasue most people said the drawers was missing. But after i won it, i found all 4 drawers , they was pushed to far inside the desk. And from the door we could not see that. So all in all i am happy with it. It will find its way into my collection.

I am German.."bayernscr" is an abbreviation for Bavarian Soccer...... :)

Thats cool, i am Norwegian, from a little town right outside Oslo called Lillestrøm. I do travel to Germany on regular basis.
Not so much Bavaria area, or Munchen (Munich). But i have been alot of times to Frankfurt am main and Northern part of Germany.
I even have a house in Flensburg, up close to the Danish border.  I bet you are a Bayern Munchen fan then? well i am kind of a Werder Bremen fan, lol or maybe HSV. Reason i am a Werder bremen fan is becasue of Rune Bratseth, a Norwegian player who played for them back in the 1980's thats how i got into German fotball.

Since 2002 i have been going to the Musikk Messe in Frankfurt every year. To bad i can't make it this year.

So have you lived in the USA for a long time? I moved her about 2 years ago.

What's it Worth?? / Re: Need help, what is this?
« on: April 18, 2011, 02:00:49 PM »
Some guy told me today that this is a facemask used with a winter uniform. Is is more or less an attachment to a uniform for use during cold days. He said it most likely was from between the 1940 and 1960.
He also said is was mostly used by European troops, and not so much american troops.

If this is correct, i find it to be a cool item. To bad i don't have the rest of the uniform.

Welcome to the forum Rolf.

Thats not a very commenamerican name. Do you have any Scandinavian background?
Reason i ask is that Rolf is one of the more commen name in Norway and Sweden.

Have been there, they have some stuff to great prices, but alot of the stuff you almost pay retail price on. I don't see the point in that.

In Norway they have auctions at the airport 4 times a year, then you go there and bid on each suitcase. Price converted from NKR to USD is on avarage about 65 dollars a suitcase. To me thats much more exciting then going to a store and buy it.

Just got back from a army retail store in Arkansas.
He tried to lowball me with 200 dollars for 4 complete uniforms. Yeahhhh right, i could see the same uniforms that i had with me in his store selling for between $199 and $249 a set.
And i have 4 complete ones, talk about trying to scam.

Medals and awards was according to the guy in the store worthless, so was the training and instruction manuals for millitary vehicles.

I have now answerd Movieman, and i consider this case settled and over with, and that we can both post in the forum in the future with any "fighting"

So for others to keep this issue open and poring fuel to the fire that Movieman and i are trying to put out is not positive.
I hope the rest of you can respect that movieman and i have worked this out in private, and just leave this topic dead.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: Any suggestions when you see a safe?
« on: April 17, 2011, 07:58:12 PM »
Upcoming listing includes: a safe as one of the items. Any advice? Anyway to unlock without breaking? How to break? Chances of having anything good? Have you got a safe before? I'm new to storage units. Also, I assume weekday auctions are less attended? Thanks. Russ

A safe is not a bad thing even if it's locked.
You can get codes and keys from the company who made them.
I have just been in contact with sentry safe about getting codes and override keys, and they are now in the mail. You have to pay a small fee to get it, but absolutley worth it.

This is the only way i recommend to do it.

Yeah, this locker has been nothing else then a nightmare.
But back then i was kind of blinded by the old rocking chair in the fron of the unit, along with the huge toolbox that could be seen from the door.

Well i got the unit for 775 and when i started to go thru it, it was mostly trash. And the rocking chair was in such a bad shape i used it for firewood. The toolbox a 1/4 full of just screws and bolts.

A total bust unit, i had 375 dollars in hauling fees and 250 dollars in dump fees + 170 dollars in labor cost.

All of this is due to a lot of misunderstanding. And not knowing all the facts. So this is something i am sure will work out once everything comes out.
