Picker's Paradise / Re: Estate Sales
« on: May 21, 2012, 04:48:35 PM »

I avoid most estate sales on the first day as I tend to buy crap for myself! ;)

That sounds like me. I have to be careful.  Checking out the Future Flea for us came home with stuff for me, Well I will sell the sewing box after I empty it.  ;)

Our estate sales usually only list one day  ???

Not sure if I would buy the food or not ( most I have been too, are a little scary looking in the kitchen ) but surly would not snicker at someone who does.

Flea Markets / Re: Might have found a home !
« on: May 21, 2012, 04:38:33 PM »
Hey Money~hope it all works out for ya!

We're also looking at alternatives as our local flea has started to die.  Temps are supposed to hit 106 today and once that is upon us Tucson sorta dies.
We may check out the other big swap meet that has night sessions.  It's where 80% of our regulars sell, so.....they may be on to something~

Thanks Rockin.

Have not heard of a night Flea / Swap here in our area. Maybe nobody has thought of it or because the misquotes my be a deterrent.  ;D

106 issssssssssssss hot. We have been hitting in the 90's add in the humidity feels like 200.  ;) but really we are on the dry side so doesn't fell to bad yet. AC still off.

Following the other regulars usually pays off.  Found a great place through the regular vendors just to far for us to make a nice profit.  ::)

Good luck to you too.

Flea Markets / Might have found a home !
« on: May 21, 2012, 06:40:46 AM »
We have been on the slow side. Having to rework our selling, Thrift crashing = no yard sales, the fleas not doing to well, and husbands new job.

Went out this Saturday to a one day Flea market in a parking lot. Wanted to go check it out. Think we will fit in nicely and have good sells.  It was Flea market style but almost Farmers Market style.

So looks promising of the mix of stuff we can sell. It is front of a RV/mobile home retiree park. Across the street from a national camping park, and down the street from a popular boat ramp. The shopping plaza has a bait and tackle store, and a restaurant.

Planning on hitting it this Saturday.  Moving some of this inventory.  ::) Hopefully enough to hit some auctions next week.

Think it will be a good every weekend spot to rebuild our customers we had at our yard sales, (in front of the thrift) So looking forward to that.

Going to check out another consignment shop also.

Went and helped out my Aunt last week ( OMG her hording has gotten really bad ). Think I will acquire a lot of items from her for payment and for commission sells. Will be doing more work for her this week.

The Lounge / Re: Ideas for repurposing things...

On the great search of re-purposing. Found one turning a dresser into a bench. Kinda the same idea of the shelving, little added stuff. Used the front of the drawers for the back. only added paint and piece of plywood for the seat.

Like the shelf idea.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: Selling Direct TV equipment
« on: May 14, 2012, 05:15:45 AM »
Looked it up on ebay information. Have one from a locker.

You have to plug the unit in and get a code. Call dish and see if it is leased or owned. If leased illegal to sell.

Think you have to have that code to even list it on ebay. Or something proving it does not belong to Dish.

Now it being an installer not sure if they have to buy the equipment if so could have been a good locker.

Yes Alcohol best for sap or anything sticky. Oh and fire ant bites.  ;D

Thanks for the tip on the windows. It is coming off but do not want to pull until i am sure can get the rest off. The van is a boat and hard to drive (seeing what is beside you). And packed with stuff to sell.  Don't want to make the view worse.

Will let you know how it turns out.  Hopefully better the mattress spring ideas.  ;)

Thanks guys.

Think I might give the nail polish remover a try first and see. Have plenty of that on hand.  ;) The Truck needs a good waxing anyway.

The van is an '93 the truck an '02. The van looks as good as the truck.

I use to get them the little buggers off pretty good but been so long since they have been this bad and traveling this much, lost my touch.

OK off subject time.  :o

But how do you remove bad window tint. The van's two front windows are awful. Ripples, peeling at bottom, really hard to see out of.
Don't want to roll them down because of the bugs.  ;).
Thanks.

I usually just mix a gallon of engine degreaser and quart of soap, no water. Spray entire car with surface clarifier (like a CLR product but more acid based), wash with mixture, more clarifier and clay bar then rinse with 300degree pressure washer.
Even that didn't get the bugs off!!

As I read your cleaning process I  was thinking do I have that, and what does it do to the paint?  Then your last sentence did me in.  :(.

I washed the windshield of the truck yesterday with a bug / tar/ pine sap remover additive for the your washer fluid. Used full strength and they came off pretty good so tried it on the hood NOPE, bugs still there.

Saw someone driving their convertible with the top down the other day. Yuck stuck bugs to the interior.
Would hate to be a motorcyclist in this mess. Don't say cheese.  ;D

The little things like white. Our truck and van are white. Lady that came from town to pick up my table said I  will have to wash my car when I get home. (I could still see through her windshield) they are terrible out here. The table was white I was trying to get it in her car before they were every where.

Thanks, Money !

As far as the threads not coming up it might be a combination of the picture sizes taking a lot of load time, and the processor in your laptop AND maybe the connection speed as well.

You are Welcome

Think you are right on the picture sizes / processor / and Internet speed.

Boy driving me nuts not being able to see the loot.  :'(

And to add something for the other thread,  The cabinet on the doll house might be a selling point. Somewhere to put the thing. Good Luck.

Man you were not kidding on the art. It really likes you.  ;)

On the mirror thing, think bulldogmom is right it is the top to a side board. The mirror is a little small for most of the ones I have seen.

Quick ebay search. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Large-Antique-Ornate-carved-wall-table-SHELF-w-Mirror-buffet-top-stick-ball-/310244856019?pt=US_Sideboards_and_Buffets&hash=item483c08d0d3

It does have a piece extending on the bottom of it right? That is a sure sign it is for a sideboard. Would set down in a groove on the lower piece.

Last photo the vase in the hickory farms box. Did that come out of this locker? Very nice piece.

Have fun with that pool table.  ;)

12 hour day today, Wednesday, May 9,2012.....

Went to 4 auctions. Got the last locker of the day, a 10 x 30 (Yikes !) 3/4 packed....paid $1900 for it and the last $1,000 in bidding was between I and a fellow who has been doing it for about a year. Of late he has been stepping up his bids, but didn't go all the way.

Waiting for the right ones paid off this month...got one for $825 a couple of weeks ago that is panning out nicely too.

Here's the link to the picture thread about this locker:

Just wanted to say Congratulations on your locker.

I am unable to participate in the thread listed above.    :(

Just cannot pull it off with this equipment. (laptop). After 4 attempts and crashing my browser, did an update on computer reloaded some programs. Was able to read the post but no pictures. but that took 15 minutes  Learning  ::) some patients here.  Had a similar problem on the Safe thread but it would load. ???. Am sure it is hardware not operator error.  ;)

Really glad you got a good one.

I did already make 1/2 my money back in change.  I laughed when found a broom and 1/2 roll of trash bags in the unit.  Was like sweet - it is a self contained unit for cleaning it out :)

So nothing steller for me this week.  Should make money on both units if get a chance to sell this weekend.

Sounds good. Your caravan sounds like ours this week very low unit #'s. Have one next week that looks promising.

Don't forget this is Mother's day weekend. Not sure if good or bad to try and sell.  ???
If taking Mom out to the Flea for a day out is common then good.  ;)

Nice first unit.

Hey that crib mattress gives nice shipping foam and scarp (unless you can come up with something for the springs  ::) )

Notice no pictures of the second one.   That bad? Maybe the art will be a winner.  ;)

Not being greedy just doing the business.

Auctions slow here... Hoping next week will pan out better for us in the auction scene.
