General Storage Auction Talk / Re: My cheapest unit yet.

Sometimes you just never know what you will get.  "storage units are like opening Pandoras box, you never know what you will get".

General Storage Auction Talk / I can see the Walls, really.
« on: August 02, 2013, 11:55:15 AM »
Finally, I can down to my last truck load to move out.  I can see progress happening.  The wife just wants to donate it all, but I still see a few hundred bucks coming my way before donation time.  I have got to find a better way of buying and selling the stuff.  Easy to buy; longer to sell.  I have made a lot of money on the units, but I have to find a more productive way to sell.  I need to find a way to quit manhandling all the boxes of crap.  I think it is time to buy an enclosed trailer.

Whenever I die, my kids are going to hate me for keeping a lot of stuff out of the units.  I just can’t help myself, I’m not a hoarder, and I’m a collector of lots of things.  The funny thing of it is, when the wife and I was going thru this stuff we came to the beanie babies, 5 big totes full.  I asked her what do you want to do with them.  It took her 2 or 3 minutes to decide to  keep them.  What are we going to do with a thousand of them?

Did I mention were are trying to move to Florida??

Flea Markets / Haitian people ar flea markets, suck
« on: July 21, 2013, 09:02:47 AM »
Yesterday at the flea market went good, mad some money, donated some stuff, which equals to moving it.
When the haitian people come, it sucks, they will steal you blind.  I lost what little respect I had for them.

yea, 270 for junk.  Lost on that one, but hey it's over.  I got to remember the good ones and they are still out there, I just have to find them....

Clothing sell good here, it sells, but I only try to get a dollar or two out of a pair of jeans or shoes.  When I had time I place the nicer clothing on hangers and the old stuff got donated.  One thing that I have learned really quickly, don't let a potential customer leave with your money.....  I know that it might sound stupid, but if I look at he person and they look as if they are on a fixed income or just old and trying to survive I will sell it cheaper.

Wonderful, great day.  Loaded up the trailer and truck full.  Pulled up to the flea market around 6:30 and the professional buyers were checking it out.  I never really had time to get stuff out of the boxes, so I just sat the boxes on the tables and started selling.  I made well over 300 and did keep a few things that I didn't know I had in the boxes.  At the end of the day, well about 12:30, we loaded back up and made a very generous donation drop off, to pay back for the good day.

Picker's Paradise / Re: Pick'n eBay?

Well, the funny thing is that some of the things that I have sold on eBay were bought to resell.  A motorcycle jacket went to Costa Rica. Camera lens and vintage stereo equipment went to China.  If your in an area that you can sell the stuff that would be a good thing.

You are a genius, great idea..
We have 5 tables, per space.  I would be the only one doing this.
25 cent table
50 cent table
1 dollar table
5 dollar table
Negotiable table

You got to play by the dumb man’s rules.  As they say “ the dumbest man in the land of nitwits is king”

To me, and maybe only me.  Junk/junk is the stuff that is in the “pre”  donated state.  Last chance to squeeze out every possible hope of collection of cash from my victims.

Just curious, what is your other venture?

Well this is the month to get rid of all the junk from the units.   I will admit, I’m way ahead.  I’m telling myself this is the time to get rid of the junk/junk.   I just need to  have a better game plan, my really sucks.

After all the shows cancel, we’ll have lower cost units.  Maybe someday, I will find where everyone is getting their money from who are willing to give it away.

Flea Markets / Re: How often do you sell at a flea market?
« on: June 27, 2013, 09:51:05 AM »
Last week end I took a load of stuff the flea market, and did rather well.  If someone is going to ask the price on something they must want it.   I sure don’t, so the variable is dollars, their dollars in my pocket is better than in theirs.  I know the guy next to me, must have hated me being there.  The only thing that I have ever asked was to be paid for my quality junk and for you not to come back until you get more cash.
