Here is the original post:  I trust that it will remain here in its entirety without being deleted or edited.

*****

I understand you are trying to bash Storage Battles in order to make your new personal online self storage auction site look better than what it is, but I would appreciate if you did not construct lies. I find it ironic that you contacted Storage Battles numerous times in the past 12 months acting very interested in the online industry and expressed the need to blog and write about it to promote how all auctions are heading this way. Storage Battles gave you accurate and honest information for the past 12 months. You have been full of lies from day one trying to get a quick buck creating a platform that you do not have any experience in other than you being a blogger/writer. Storage Battles held ONE auction on April 10th, 2013, which was not the facility mentioned in your blog. I also find it ironic that Storage Battles only held ONE auction the day you had lied about the illegal post, when Storage Battles has 10-30 auctions ending every day.

Travis, the sentence below is what you had stated. Why do you find it necessary to construct lies to make your site more appealing?
Oh, and they even sold another unit which belonged to a female tenant which was not even listed in the legal notice.

I would hope if you actually believed in your concept/website then you wouldn't find it necessary to bash the competitors in order to get ahead. Do you believe that when buyers/facilities are exposed to your lies that it will increase your business? I only wish you were a real man of integrity as you falsely portray yourself.

Why fight with your competitor on a concept that is just being introduced in the industry?

Lastly, Storage Battles would appreciate it if you would discontinue sending private emails to all the facilities that you gain from storagebattles.com. Your strategy in stealing facilities oppose to actually selling your concept only exemplifies the type of business you are running.

Thank you.

I realize that Virtual Storage Auction has you guys over at Storage Battles in a panic. As it should. But perhaps you should spend less time worrying about what we're doing and more time getting your bankruptcy paperwork in order.

If your enthusiasm for your new website was all that it took to succeed, you would INDEED have great success !

I'm wondering if you even SAW her original post. I have a copy of it that I would be happy to post here; that way you could answer the charges she made against you other than those I included earlier.

I didn't delete the post, the commenter deleted his/her own post. If I wanted to delete the post, I would have got rid of the quotes as well.

I should have realized that !

All good! I wont buy or support storage battles anymore and most people that attened live auction wont buy fom them either and lots of the storage facilitys wont have anything to do with them.

Well, Travis might not either after what they said about him in the post he deleted, but not two weeks ago he bought an auction unit from them. It was the one he said was about 200 miles away and that he would make a good profit on.

I suggested to him that he might be "abbetting" the enemy. I wonder if that includes buying one of their listings again.

Whoa !  There's a post that won't survive the KNIFE SLASH of history being re-written.  Either that post will go or the whole thread will disappear.

Now you see it. Now you don't. A magician's trick.

The portion of the original storagebattles post that I quoted was at the end of their post. The top 3/4 of their original post basically accused Travis of falsifying the bulk of his post. These are just the facts of this thread.

It's been done and will be done again.

Of course if the un-ethical person who does this uses his own I.D. his credit history will take a hit for not paying his bills. Won't matter if the auction brought in what was owed or more than was owed.

Several years ago that empty box scene happened in Sacramento, CA. Guy paid $4K for the locker of empty boxes (brand new cardboard tool boxes, etc). He put up such a stink that he got his money back and the guys who had done the setup were banned from attending auctions (yes, they were auction buyers who knew the biz).

Those guys haven't been back since but I'm sure they're up to no good somewhere.

Flea Markets / Re: First flea market of the season
« on: April 14, 2013, 08:35:27 AM »
For Californians the "season" is year round. Our only issues with weather are snow in the mountains where flea markets aren't a thing anyway.  The rainy season is January through April, but it's an inconsistent thing. Our water supplies largely come from mountain snow melt.

Anyway, too bad you didn't have your better boxes with you, but the outcome helped out anyway.  When I started doing flea markets in 2004 a "slow" day was $300.  Now (recession years later) I'm happy to even DO $300 with $200 being a more normal day and $100 days aren't rare. I don't sell anything much bigger than a breadbox at the flea.

It all depends on things like what you've got, the crowd, the venue, time of year, time of month, etc. There are 4 flea markets within 10 miles of each  other and they represent different opportunities. I only sell at one of them.

Used to be you could get $75 for a lightweight worm drive circular saw but now it's a hard-sale at $40. No construction going on around here.

The dollar by dollar gathering has been more and more common here especially the last year or so. Some days a $10 sale is my biggest ticket. I took out a $125 (retail) Pelican case about 4 times before I finally sold it for $45 (came down from $60). There are lots of stories like that.

BUT, the flea gets rid of stuff that isn't viable on Clist or eBay, so what can you do. Try selling a Pelican case on eBay...look at the competition there.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: Good Part Time Income??
« on: April 12, 2013, 11:23:12 PM »
Can you imagine how big this guys house must have been to accommodate that 5 piece Bassett living room set and a 7'X5' mirror? The guy must of had a 40'X40' living room with 20 foot ceilings.

I'm sure it wasn't a double-wide.

And despite all his "goodies" he lost them all to a lien auction...guess it was nice while it lasted.

Look at Alias reply #4 above.

Like him I have been doing more picking than locker buying lately. I bought my last lkr in Mid-Dec, 2012.

Picking isn't as much work though it requires a different set of sources, techniques, etc.  You could do a little of both.

IMPORTANT:

Just trying to pay the rent you say?   Whatever you do, don't use next month's rent money to buy a locker or two. They may not make a profit ..... in fact they may not pay for themselves at all.

This is not a business for the faint of heart or the under-funded.  If you can't afford to lose the money, don't spend it.

...if you are very proactive, can you make a DECENT part time income buying from storage auctions.  not looking to get rich, just maybe a thousand a month or so
...

The short answer is yes.

The longer answer is:

1) not as likely as it was 2 years 4 months ago (pre tv shows)

2) not as likely considering more renters are paying their bill if their stuff is of better quality

3) not as likely if newbies keep spending more than a locker is worth.

4) not as likely as regular long-time buyers are paying premium just to get stock to stay in business.

5) other contributors here may have more reasons it is tougher "now" than "then".

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Auction Scene #4...April, 2013
« on: April 12, 2013, 03:00:30 PM »
Had two possible auctions today....until one was CANCELLED !

Second one had 8 lockers and crowd was decent. Some lockers were OK, but I could tell I wouldn't be bidding...my estimates on what they would go for were very close and those prices were 2 to 3 times what I would have paid for them in order to make a profit.

One of them went to a regular, long-time buyer and I was surprised he went for it at $325. I would have paid $150 at the most. It was 10 wide by 5 deep with a few good items showing and not much else for even surprise potential.

Oh well, they keep on coming..quality and price notwithstanding. ;D

Craigslist / Re: Free Templates for my CL ads....
« on: April 11, 2013, 09:56:11 AM »
Absolutely right guys...Pictures make the sale.

Nice closeups of the motorcycle and sidecar !  Most of the stuff I pick and sell is breadbox size. The little red radio
is about 5 inches left to right, but that's probably the smallest thing I've shot and my standard setup with a reed background works for most things.

For large items the reed background works too as it is 7 feet tall and 5 feet wide, so an item has to be pretty big to get outside those parameters.

Things like pressure washers I usually put in a paved setting with some greenbelt area behind for color contrast and "life".

Pics do it...that's for sure...the sharper the better.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Frustrating Day
« on: April 11, 2013, 08:22:52 AM »
I guess that was their strategy and it seems to have worked.

I would guess the three yahoos had no strategy and were just goofballs...500....PENNIES! That's right up there with the clowns who yell..."Yupp!".  Fortunately that has slowed down.

My advice...don't fight them...ignore them. Chances are you won't see that group around much anyway once they've made a few mistakes in buying by taking their comedy routine to the faciltiies.
