The Lounge / Re: Interresting Tidbits About The Forum
« on: March 21, 2013, 07:19:09 AM »
That's interesting! I wonder if the demographic is because of the type of "Work" buying storage lockers is?

I mean, it is very time consuming and if there is a family involved it does cut into the time spent with family, know what I mean?

Here's another "interesting tibit" about the forum.

It's 5:16 a.m. Pacific time as I post this and there are two users on the forum (me and one hidden). Since the only other post made during this time frame was the one made above by StorMe, he must be the one who is "hidden".

When only two users are online it doesn't take much of a detective to figure this out; reminds me of the little child who covers his eyes and thinks HE is hidden !

Oh well, even on the east coast it's still early to be thinking it through.

Cobia brought up good point. If someone bids on a unit and doesn't pay, the auctioneer has the right to resell the unit to the next highest bidder. Well, if the only people there are the last few people waiting to pay for the units they bought, it might be a good idea to start hanging out after the auction to pick up units on the cheap. Does anyone already do this and if so, how often does it pay off?

Good thing I have a good memory.

Here is a cut and paste from a thread in early March, 2011 which addresses this issue.

“A fourth incident involved a locker that I was bidding on. I quit at $600 and the guy got it for $650. I left as it was the last auction at that facility. A half hour later at the next place on the route the story came out. The guy didn't have the money and the third runner up (at $550) got the locker. They didn't re-auction it as we had all left.
The final part of this story is that the 10x30 turned out to be nothing but crap.

I had lucked out, but my pal spent days cleaning it out and lost everything he had invested. The only thing he could sell he said was the totes the crap was in. “

The entire thread on this issue can be seen here:

That would be great if you could locate them. It would be interesting to see how the past opinions have held up.

I COULD locate them, but I currently am stalking another interest...now if a $100 gift card was at stake that might be a different matter !

Edit:

Ha!  I just realized that in about six minutes I will be TIVOing CSI: Las Vegas while meanwhile I will be WATCHING Law and Order: SVU on a second TV.  Now, that's stalking !

1204
How many more seasons do you think the storage shows will be renewed for?

I'm more interested in HOW MANY VOTES the poll will receive !  The record here for the last two years is 6 VOTES I think !

Oh man! I'd eat a mile of... LOL!

Anyway, here is her IMDB Bio:

And here is her IMDB Filmography:

Her Website:

Her YouTube:

It's not the same lady, I think. Very beautiful but not the same gal.

Does Laura know she has a stalker ? (and I don't mean ME, I mean StorMe)

Your compilation of info on her looks like a CIA dossier !  ;D

And yes, I WOULD buy a used car from HER !

Actually jump the bid 250 and see what happens

Well, AntiqueGuy is the leader now at $860...get back in there BWD !

AG's bid was $860 at 6:00 PM Pacific time on 3/20/2013.

Actually jump the bid 250 and see what happens

Well, since he lives 1600 miles away I think it's pretty safe to say he won't be bidding at all. No matter how much fun one has on a road trip it wouldn't factor out right buying that locker. (IMHO)

1208
No, I'm the highest bidder! Road Trip!

Strange, the bid page shows that BWD is still the high bidder at $680. Jump in at $690 and see what happens.

So, the new girl Elle at the Haff-Ton Pawn Shop is apparently actress Laura Soares. After the "made for TV" pawn shop incident, I didn't think Auction Hunters could get any more fake. I seriously underestimated them.

Somehow I don't think the Laura Soares shown below is the same one you're talking about. Even with their fantasic finds and the money generated by them AND the show, I doubt the dynamic duo could convince the gal shown below or afford her fees !

More "celebrity" faces on Storae Wars.....at least the original cast (except Barry) had a history with storage auctions.

Here's some of the past of the Harris Brothers. It's a video.

Here's the answer:

His wife Kimber.

Personally I think if the Harris Brothers are added on a regular basis the show is on an even faster downhill slope to the sinkhole.  Barry is enough of that type...why add more?

Here's an article on them:

Other Forms of Selling / Re: Using Facebook to sell. Works great!
« on: March 19, 2013, 04:23:39 PM »
Try and put in "Yard Sale (your city)" That comes up with about 4 different groups for me for Raleigh.

Tried that per your suggestion but all it got me was web results most of which were Clist ads for yard sales; page two was the garage sale website which sends out alerts for one's area.

The Facebook approach sounds appealing, but guess someone has to get it started....not going to be me; there isn't time enough to do all that needs doing now.

Craigslist / Re: Stupid Questions From Craigslist Buyers
« on: March 19, 2013, 04:14:23 PM »

Or maybe I should say "I will sell it for a dollar but you gotta come mow my yard, clean my bathrooms, & make me dinner."  :D

I LIKE that answer. Most people would "get it" and if delivered with the right tone they might enjoy it and the negotiation could proceed.

***
Also if they ask me about my bottom dollar, I will sometimes tell them $2 to $5 more than my actual bottom and that sometimes works.  If it doesn't work and they then offer something even lower than that, I tell them..."you asked me my bottom dollar and I told you. Do you want it for that?"

The fact is (IMO) we have done more selling than they have done buying, and if you've got the guts to lose a sale and pick it up another time, I'm for doing just that..unless of course it was bulky, heavy, etc and I didn't want to reload it and then bring it out another time.
