I get a couple of newspapers outside of Atlanta and can't seem to find where the public notice would be.  Any help here??  Thanks

I find the smallest crowds at the obvious times down here in Atlanta.  When there are 5-8 or so carivans it thins out the herd.

wow.  There has to be some laws broken somewhere in that process.
The few auctions that I have been to the locks were already cut and were laying inside of the locker when the auctioneer opened the house locks.  Is this common or are most lockers having the owners lock cut off for the first time???

this brings the term "managers special" to a whole new light.  Whats the term for the unit the manager puts together of things left on the lot??   I forget....

interesting tactic.  It may send some people to bankruptcy, or the very least not bid on other lockers that day.

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Nice lavender flashlight...

I just picked up a stanley 2 mil myself.  Should be able to see the rear of any 30 footer with this thing.  My MAG wasn't quite strong enough sometimes.  Problem is its gonna be a task to carry around.

Storage Auctioneers / Re: What are an auctioneer's responsibilities?
« on: July 27, 2011, 05:35:04 PM »
IMHO the auctioneer is simply the middleman.  He is there to ensure a fair auction for the buyers and sellers.  That said, I would assume that the liability is on each person bidding.  If you want to spend 5k on some sunglasses and a TV so be it.  That could be my libertarian political philosophy speaking though.

I was going to ask what proper attire is at an auction.  I would assume that it is anything that you don't mind getting dirty while cleaning out your lockers...

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: to buy a truck or not???
« on: July 26, 2011, 09:06:55 AM »
I am very interested in this as a second form of income.  I understand that its hit or miss and am smart enough to pass when the bidding gets out of control.
On the other hand its a great second "job" whereas there are no commitments to be there at any time or you can go all of the time.
I agree with the trailer idea.  My wife will allow me to come off of 1k or so a lot easier than 5-10k for a truck.
Thanks for the input guys, and I hope to see yall out there sometime.

New to Storage Auctions? / to buy a truck or not???
« on: July 25, 2011, 07:06:38 PM »
I live in a sub-division.  1 car garage where my princess takes up most of the space.    We have my wifes mariner in the driveway and my dd which is a 03 jetta also in the driveway.  My dilemma is do I purchase a truck i.e. f250, silverado 2500 or something in that size range, and piss my wife off with the expenditure.  Or do I purchase a 4x8 trailer and set up the mariner to do some hauls???  I figure I could sell the jetta for 4k or so and put that on a truck but I would still need a vehicle to drive to my day job.  any ideas would be great.  I am very new, been to a few auctions but haven't made a purchase as of yet.

New Atlanta area guy here.  I know I am bumping an old thread, but wanted to say to all of the others out there.

Up in the Braselton area, off of I85.  I am very new to storage auctions and have a lot of questions to ask.  I will probably be driving from metro Atlanta, to Athens, up into the Greenville SC area.
My normal job is as a chef at a local restaurant and I will be doing this to help pique my curiosity and to make a little extra money for my coming baby.
